Job Title: Sr SATCOM & Telemetry RF/Microwave Design EngineerJob Code: 15877Job Location: San Diego, CAJob Description:L3Harris in San Diego, CA is seeking a versatile RF hardware engineer to lead the design and manufacturing of Tracking, Telemetry, and Command products for airborne and space-based applications. As an RF Product Lead, you will be responsible for developing solutions that meet customer needs based on current designs and proposed new development for advanced satellite communication links, digital telemetry, and signal processing technology. Additionally, as a hardware engineer, you will be directly involved in the design, integration, and testing of new assemblies for current and future programs.Essential Functions:Responsible for working with Business Development, Engineering, and Management to develop systems that meet the customer’s needs based on legacy systems and new designs.System/module requirements development.Responsible for all aspects of RF/microwave product development, including system and module level design and definition, schematic capture, circuit design, derating, and Worst-Case Analysis (WCA).Prepare and present engineering design concepts and data results for IDR/PDR/CDR.Support internal peer reviews, design verification testing of engineering units, and oversight of production.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.Minimum 7 years of experience designing X-Band or higher RF/microwave transmitter, receiver, and converter circuits at the circuit card or module level (schematic capture, BOM generation, layout or layout supervision).Minimum 7 years of experience supporting production of RF/Microwave hardware.Experience with RF/microwave transceiver architecture tradeoffs.Experience contributing to proposal efforts and new product development.Understanding of digital design fundamentals to include modem architectures, power supplies, and interfacing with ADCs and FPGAs.Experience troubleshooting RF/microwave subassemblies to the component level.Experience independently developing test procedures and conducting design verification testing.Preferred Additional Skills:Experience performing RF system analysis using ADS System Vue, AWR VSS, or similar.Ability to perform linear and non-linear analysis of RF/microwave circuits using Keysight ADS or similar.Familiarity with transmitter and receiver architecture design.Experience with performing 3D Electromagnetic analysis using HFSS or similar.Familiarity with DVB-S2 waveform.Experience with military or space qualified hardware designs.Design experience with K band frequencies desired but not required.Knowledgeable of RF transceiver architecture tradeoffs.Working knowledge of modems and digital modulation techniques to include BPSK, QPSK, and related distortion metrics like EVM.
