Senior Subcontracts Manager - Defense & Government Contracts

You will play a crucial role in managing the entire life-cycle of subcontracts, from initial sourcing and acquisition strategy development through solicitation, negotiation, award, cost and schedule management, subcontractor execution, and closeout steps. This position involves working with a diverse range of customer segments, including U.S. Federal Government, Commercial, International Governments, International Commercial, and Defense, both domestically and internationally.

The Subcontracts landscape encompasses various technologies, products, and services, utilizing different subcontract types to effectively manage risk for both the company and its customers. You will collaborate on acquisition strategies, develop subcontract requirements, generate solicitations, negotiate terms, and manage supplier performance.

Essential FunctionsDrive all aspects of major subcontract execution (cost, schedule, technical, quality) and integration of subcontract work scope within the program.Serve as a Subject Matter Expert with advanced knowledge of contract types, government proposals, and Basis of Estimate (BOE).Exhibit advanced negotiation skills, subcontractor management, and program risk management experience.Review technical SOWs, ensuring clarity and accountability in technical requirements.Possess advanced knowledge of FAR/DFAR requirements, Prime Contract flow downs, and compliance regulations.Analyze diverse issues and communicate effectively with Program and Supply Chain Executive Leadership.Collaborate with SCMs, Program Management, and Technical personnel to support high-value proposals and subcontracts.Understand Intellectual Property (IP) and Patent requirements.Identify process improvements and propose changes to mitigate supply chain risks.Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years; or a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Procurement and/or Subcontracts.Experience in Supply Chain, Subcontracts, Contracts, Procurement, Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Regulatory Compliance, Legal, and Government compliance.Proficient in using MRP systems software and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Requires prior managerial experience or defense contractor/government supply chain experience.Preferred Additional SkillsDoD Clearance is desired but not required.Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.Excellent communication skills, customer focus, and strong interpersonal skills.Experience as Cost Account Manager for Subcontracts managing budgets and sales forecasting.Lean Six Sigma experience.CompensationBase Salary: USD (110,000 to 145,000)Full-time position with full benefits.Relocation Assistance Available: YesCommission Compensation: NoBonus Eligible: NoOvertime Eligible: NoInterview Travel Reimbursed: YesCandidate Details10+ to 15 years of experience.Seniority Level: Mid-Senior.Management Experience Required: Yes.Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree.Willingness to Travel: Occasionally.Security Clearance Required: No.Visa Candidate Considered: No.
