POSITION SUMMARYThe Assistant Liturgical Desktop Publisher creates Trinity Church’s worship service bulletins and notebooks for print production and digital distribution. This person collaborates with the Senior Liturgical Desktop Publisher as well as with liturgy, music, communications, outreach, pastoral care, and creative services staff to compile and format content. This person also maintains web-based resources used in creating and distributing Trinity’s liturgical publications.The hourly pay rate for this position is $35.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCompile service order, service music, announcements, cover image, and programming advertisements from approved resources, following the direction of staff leads, for 4–8 weekly services (additional services for Christmas, Holy Week, major holy days, marriages, baptisms, burials, and other special events)Place text, music, and graphics into existing templates for bulletins and notebooks (usually 20–32 pages each)Format publication content in Adobe InDesign: use paragraph, character, and object styles; place, align, and resize graphics; anchor objects; thread text frames; and assign parent pagesEdit graphics in Adobe Photoshop: move and delete portions of graphics, resize images, convert format from color to grayscale, and crop canvas sizeProofread bulletins and notebooks for errors and make correctionsSend bulletin drafts to staff leads for review and make changes as directedPackage final documents with fonts and images, then send bulletins to print productionUpload digital files of bulletins and notebooks to Trinity’s liturgical planning websiteMaintain databases related to publication contentSupport the Senior Liturgical Desktop Publisher in other projects as assignedREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ACTIVITIESExtremely detail-oriented.Excellent spelling, punctuation, and grammar in English.Able to complete work according to firm time-sensitive deadlines.Able to prioritize workflow involving multiple simultaneous publications.Strong tendency toward consistency, protocols, and precision.Adept at critical thinking and problem-solving.Willing to learn proprietary liturgical planning and project management tools.Communicates expediently via e-mail and text messages during work hours.REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALSTwo or more years of experience in desktop publishing, preferably using Adobe InDesign.Knowledge of Episcopal Church worship is highly desirable. If the candidate is not familiar with Episcopal liturgy and terminology, a strong desire to learn it thoroughly is required.Ability to read music is highly desirable.Reading proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.Skill in HTML and XML is desirable.
