JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Director of Business Development will design and execute plans to acquire and expand mutually beneficial strategic corporate partnerships in alignment with the Clemson Elevate strategic plan. This position will establish and deploy achievable partnership frameworks focused on talent development, research, and campus and community impact. The Senior Director, Business Development will demonstrate strong communication, strategic planning and customer service skills to generate leads, cultivate stakeholder collaboration and build industry-academia partnerships. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President, Corporate Partnerships within OCP in the External Affairs Division and is based full-time at the main campus of Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

40% - Essential - Strategic Engagement Portfolio (SEP):

Create growth frameworks for each assigned Strategic Corporate Partner (SCP). Lead development and collaboration with university and industry stakeholders to advance proposals, contracts, etc., foundational to establishing partnership engagements. Collaborate closely with internal and industry stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation and growth of the mutually agreed upon strategic framework.

30% - Essential - Relationships and Communication:

Build trusted, high-level relationships with new partners and assigned, existing SCPs. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as university faculty, staff, department chairs, program leads, deans and partners, to create alignment that provides high mutual value.

20% - Essential - Business Development Pipeline:

Visit companies and executives, and research business and academic trends to create a business development pipeline across multiple industry sectors compatible with Clemson Elevate. Effectively communicate lead to close achievement of pipeline on a regular basis, and make recommendations on constantly improving cultivation cycle and close rate.

10% - Essential - Accountability and Reporting:

Track and report business development activities, partnership growth and other OCP metrics to inform strategic decisions. Regularly update and report on progress and achievement of SCP framework goals as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree - Business, marketing, or a technical or related fieldWork Experience:

7+ years

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.Expected Salary Range:

($101,300.00 - $136,017.50)

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal OperationsRequired to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
