DescriptionJoin our team in the critical role of ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices across our communities. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and involves collaboration with senior management, regional managers, and community leaders to uphold high compliance standards across various regulatory frameworks, including HUD, Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), and Rural Development.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor the Compliance Department, overseeing compliance in HUD, LIHTC, and other affordable housing programs.Ensure accuracy and completeness of first-year files for lease-ups and rehabilitation projects.Manage compliance for affordable and income-restricted components in new developments and lease-ups.Deliver high-quality compliance reports to state agencies, investors, syndicators, and stakeholders.Audit and review reports, certifications, and documentation to ensure adherence to regulations.Develop processes to monitor tenant files for compliance with relevant rules.Ensure all leases and forms meet federal, state, and local requirements.Provide actionable information on compliance, leasing, and regulatory matters to support operations.Collaborate with the Training and Development department to ensure compliance training materials are current.Build relationships across the organization, serving as a mentor and coach.Monitor overall portfolio performance related to compliance reporting and proactively address issues.Work with leadership to develop action plans to mitigate risks and protect investments.RequirementsBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/professional certifications.Minimum of 15 years of experience in LIHTC and/or Section 8 housing programs; Rural Development experience is a plus.In-depth knowledge of rent regulations and affordable housing programs.Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide teams.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Initiative in effectively addressing and resolving issues.Ability to build and maintain productive relationships and deliver excellent customer service.Capability to independently manage priorities and adapt as needed.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills preferred.Knowledge of Fair Housing regulations.Experience with Yardi property management software is a plus.Certification in HCCP, NCP-E, TaCCs, COS, C3P, or other recognized affordable housing compliance certifications required.Employment Type: Full-Time
