The University’s athletic program fields 20 Division II intercollegiate teams (9 men’s and 11 women’s) and boasts more than 500 student-athletes.
Reporting directly to and working with the Director of Athletics, the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Services/Senior Woman Administrator will be responsible for the overall administration of the development, implementation, and monitoring of all systems designed to ensure compliance with the NCAA, GLIAC and University rules.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Abides by NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance.Directs all aspects of the university’s compliance program to ensure compliance with NCAA, GLIAC, and university rules and regulations in the areas of staff certification, recruiting, financial aid, amateurism, awards and benefits, and CARA.Assist in the coordination of NCAA, EADA, and GLIAC reporting with the Office of the Controller.Ensure gender equity with athletic programs and activities in coordination with the University Gender Equity Committee.Serve as the sports supervisor for the Volleyball, Men’s & Women’s Soccer, and Softball programs. Train, supervise, evaluate, and administer daily matters for those respective sports programs.Assist the Office of Institutional Research in the coordination and submission of the federal graduation report and the NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR).Collect, organize, and submit Academic Performance Program (specifically APR), NCAA Demographics report, and graduation rate information to the NCAA. Provide updates and reports to coaches and administration. Assist in the coordination of athletic academic certification.Assist the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Services with the administration of scholarships, academic practice program, transfer notifications, and tracers, initial eligibility of freshmen and transfers, and continuing eligibility of all student-athletes.Develop and conduct training and education programs for university staff and student-athletes regarding compliance with NCAA, GLIAC, and university rules and regulations.Interprets NCAA rules and pursues waivers and appeals. Investigates and submits violations to the conference office and/or NCAA.Responsible for maintaining updated SVSU Compliance Manual, Athletics Department website, compliance forms, and Teamworks and Compliance Assistant (CAI) software programs. Generates, monitors, and approves all compliance forms.Serves as the liaison to the Registrar, Faculty Athletic Representative, Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Affairs offices.Serve on GLIAC, NCAA and university committees as directed by the Athletic Director, including but not limited to the University Title IX committee, GLIAC management council, and conference committees.Serve as chair for the campus NCAA Compliance Advisory Committee.Monitors all financial aid awarded to student-athletes with assistance from the financial aid office. Oversees the National Letter of Intent Program to include the development of all scholarship agreements and tracking NCAA individual and team grant-in-aid limits.Monitors official recruiting visits, camps/clinics, and NCAA complimentary admissions.Collects and monitors all NCAA and SVSU required paperwork during annual sport-specific pre-season team meetings. Represents SVSU athletics at seminars, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.Remains current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University and GLIAC rules and regulations, as applicable, regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations.Performs other duties as assigned.SUPERVISION RECEIVED:General supervision is received from the Director of Athletics, with a dotted line to the President.SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Functional supervision is exercised over the Athletic Academic Advisor and Sports Administration as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Three years of experience in intercollegiate athletics administration.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Outlook, and ability to learn new software quickly.Ability to communicate in a service-oriented and collaborative spirit.Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.Excellent leadership skills.Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.Willingness to travel nights and weekends.Proven ability to work effectively in a diverse community.Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.Experience and ability to positively interact with a diverse campus community.Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Master's degree or Juris Doctorate.Experience with athletics compliance software (e.g. ARMS, Teamworks, and Compliance Assistant).WORKING CONDITIONS:Some weeknights and weekends, including intermittent travel, will be required.The above reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the essential functions of the job.
