Associate General Counsel – Credit Card and Consumer RegulatoryOneMain Financial’s growing consumer lending business and an increasingly complex legal and regulatory environment provide solid career opportunities for attorneys motivated by creative clients and a fast paced, forward-thinking culture. OneMain Financial is seeking a talented, experienced, and energetic attorney with an interest in supporting OneMain’s growing consumer credit card business.The Associate General Counsel will work closely with OneMain Financial cross-functional business partners as part of a dynamic legal team, in support of the Consumer Credit Card line of business. Primary responsibilities include overseeing the legal work related to, and providing advice and guidance on, the laws and regulations impacting consumer card account marketing, origination, issuance, and servicing. Additional responsibilities include supporting other consumer financial product lines, reviewing internal policies and procedures, consumer disclosures, marketing materials (including rewards programs) and vendor agreements. The attorney will identify and advise of risks and provide practical solutions to address risks identified and business needs. This is an exciting opportunity that provides significant exposure to members of the senior leadership team in the company.The ideal candidate will be able to think strategically, have strong attention to details and be able to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment. They should be able to structure and organize financial and non-financial data to build reports and analysis, which are repeatable, consistent and able to convey the business’s state of affairs with clarity succinctly.In the RoleProvide and manage day-to-day counseling to Consumer Credit Card line of business and other consumer financial product lines relating to marketing, origination, issuance, and servicing, collections, and other operational matters.Serve as strategic legal advisor relating to areas of responsibility, working with the business to develop innovative and compliant solutions for a continually evolving business.Establish yourself among many internal constituents across diverse functions as a trusted business advisor whose advice, counsel, and judgment can be relied upon.Collaborate with corporate functions, including Compliance, Marketing, Credit, Technology, Operations, and Risk to identify and manage risk.Anticipate issues and evaluate risks strategically by, among other things, identifying proactive solutions to address risk while assisting the business meet its legitimate objectives.Provide thought leadership, strategic consultation, and innovative solutions regarding challenges and opportunities to influence and shape key business decisions.Maintain strong understanding of current regulations and regulatory trends and provide relevant, actionable advice and guidance when needed.Partner with, and effectively manage, outside counsel when appropriate.Lead and deliver other projects as required and perform other duties as needed.QualificationsMinimum of 8 years’ experience advising clients in the consumer financial services industry on products and legal considerations for consumer credit card programs.Juris Doctorate degree.Admitted to a state bar.Knowledge of the following laws and regulations: Card Act (Reg. Z), Truth in Lending (TILA), Unfair Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP), FCRA/Reg. V, FDCPA, ECOA/Reg. B, CAN-SPAM, TCPA and state consumer lending laws.In addition to credit cards experience, familiarity with legal issues arising in the areas of installment lending, consumer protections, and point-of-sale programs.Ability to distill complex topics for discussion and counseling with client at all levels of the organization.Proven track record of providing effective legal counsel and support in a dynamic corporate environment (or for dynamic corporate clients).Highly motivated with sound judgment and strong interpersonal skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Location:
