Establish and maintain underwriting standards, guidelines, and rate adequacy.Chair the Credit Committee.Manage reinsurance relationships including treaty programs and special acceptances.Provide individualized training and group training on an ongoing basis.Work with Claims and Legal on manuscript indemnity requests and contract reviews.Keep abreast of developments in the surety industry through participation in NASBP, NAIS, and SFAA.Contribute to a team effort as part of the management team.Supervisory Responsibilities:Direct supervision of a Senior Underwriting Manager. Indirect supervision of all surety field underwriting operations.Core Competencies:Strong financial analytical skills.Deep surety knowledge across bond forms, statutes, contract language, and other surety related legal concepts.Strong training and mentoring skills.Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or equivalent.At least 10 years of management and underwriting experience in the Surety industry.Physical Demands:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.May be required to lift up to 10 lbs. at times.Some travel required (up to 25%).CapSpecialty is a leading provider of specialty insurance and bonds for small- to mid-sized businesses in the U.S., offering casualty, professional liability, surety, and fidelity products in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
