Works within the office of Fairfax County Dranesville District Supervisor James. N. Bierman, Jr. This position is responsible for a portfolio that includes communications, community outreach, and casework.

Duties include:

Produce weekly events newsletter in coordination with District office staff.

Manage and grow social media channels.

Maintain Dranesville District website.

Work as part of a team to initiate and manage various community engagement events throughout the district.

Provide constituent services on various issues as needed and serve as the liaison to county departments and state/federal agencies.

Assist with drafting of press releases, talking points, and board matters.

Attend stakeholder meetings as needed (mix of virtual and in-person meetings).

The successful candidate is expected to use discretion and be able to work independently.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, public relations, political science, constituent services, event production, or similar line of work.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work outside of normal business hours, as required.

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in political settings.

Graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop and Canva.

Excellent written and verbal communication with strong interpersonal skills.

Organizational and research skills.

Experience with newsletter software such as Constant Contact, GovDelivery, Mailchimp.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent workplace software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position will require use of a vehicle to attend events outside of the office. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
