has an exciting remote opportunity to join our Animal Nutrition team! As a

Senior Ingredient Buyer , you will have the ability to purchase all necessary commodities and ingredients for our feed manufacturing facilities across the U.S. Written & verbal communication, attention to detail, and passion will be key components to success in this opportunity.ResponsibilitiesReview, analyze and select the best sources of supply, and select vendors based off that information.Negotiate prices, terms and delivery of feed ingredients to keep our customers’ orders in full and on time.Evaluate alternative sources of supply and vendors, paying attention to quality and specifications of ingredients sourced. Create purchase orders and contracts when applicable.Responsible for placing orders with vendors and completing purchase orders in the ERP.Contact vendors with any quality discrepancies and address issues quickly.Communicate ingredient supply issues to other business functions along with the Purchasing manager to help with communication and reformulation efforts.Work closely with Global Grain Marketing personnel (i.e., grain merchants, originators, and CHS Hedging) to leverage our scale and other product lines to reduce our cost of goods.Build strong working relationships with Plant Managers and Production Teams.Develop purchasing strategies for ingredients responsible for.Minimum Qualifications (required)High School diploma or GED4+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or PurchasingAdditional QualificationsSAP experienceProficient with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Teams)Purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentAbility to establish and maintain strong professional relationshipsStrong communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to influence and negotiateBachelor's degree preferred in Animal Science/Nutrition, Business, Economics, Manufacturing, Logistics, Statistics or related fieldCHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions.
