The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) is a conservation non-profit dedicated to getting people outdoors. We're seeking a passionate and experienced Marketing Director to lead our efforts in spreading awareness and driving engagement for our cause as we invite our AMC community to Get Out and Join In.

AMC is an almost 150-year-old conservation non-profit focused on outdoor recreation from Maine to Virginia. With over 30 lodges, huts, and volunteer camps & cabins, we believe that by getting people outdoors we unlock and deepen our community's commitment to conservation. We partner with local communities, outdoor brands, and government entities to expand our community's impact.

About the role:The Marketing Director will develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies and optimize channel engagement to increase our organization's visibility, invite our community and membership to go outdoors with us and stay at our facilities, attract donors, and engage volunteers. This role is crucial in communicating our mission and impact to diverse audiences while simultaneously driving action, engagement, and revenue in alignment with AMC's new strategic plan.

What you'll be doing at AMC:

Develop and execute marketing plans aligned with organizational goals.

Oversee marketing channels, including digital, print, events, and paid social media.

Partner with AMC's Director of Communications to create compelling content that tells our story and demonstrates our impact.

Collaborate with AMC's Director of Membership to define and deepen our community's journey with the organization and our 11 geographically based member-driven chapters, supporting member acquisition and retention.

Engage with AMC's Earned Revenue departments, including lodging, merchandise, book, and maps to optimize topline metrics and mission impact.

Cooperate with the fundraising team to support the conversion of members to donors, while cultivating existing donor relationships.

Work with the team's Data and Insights Coordinator and Marketing Managers to analyze marketing metrics and adjust strategies for optimal performance.

Manage marketing budget and resources efficiently.

Lead and mentor the marketing team.

Participate in cross-department initiatives related to AMC's long-term strategy.

What AMC is looking for:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.

7+ years of marketing experience, with at least 3 years in an omni-channel marketing leadership role.

Strong digital marketing skills, including SEO and content strategy.

Experience developing and optimizing marketing funnels that cover the entire experience from awareness to conversion.

Proven track record in non-profit or cause-related marketing.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with fundraising and donor communications.

Ability to work entrepreneurially and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Passion for our mission and commitment to social impact.

Experience in brand partnerships, referring marketing, and developing community.

Salary:$93,808 - $131,352

We are committed to equitable compensation practices. The initial salary represents our starting point, and our compensation philosophy is designed to reward and recognize the contributions of our employees as they grow within the organization. External candidates typically begin their journey with us at the starting point of the salary range. The final compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, competencies, and geographic differential relevant to the position, and will be discussed during the interview process.
