The designated trauma center for Montgomery County, Suburban Hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission and has earned ANCC Magnet Recognition for nursing excellence.About this position:The Patient Safety Specialist will have primary responsibility of assisting in the coordination of patient safety activities as outlined in the organizational Patient Safety Plan. The Patient Safety Specialist is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and/or evaluating patient safety principles and practices throughout the Hospital. The position encompasses various roles (coordinator, educator, facilitator, and manager) and requires effective interpersonal and management skills to motivate staff to embrace the Patient Safety Program. The incumbent will be considered a patient safety subject matter expert, resource and provide support for performance improvement projects and Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program (CUSP) teams related to patient safety.The Patient Safety Specialist is expected to collaborate with unit and hospital leadership on risk reduction strategies to enhance patient safety, as well as providing support to select committees that come under either the hospital's patient safety program, regulatory compliance program and/or the hospital's performance improvement program. Preferred Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or higher. Trained in design-thinking, and Human Factors. Higher degree, if required by professional licensing board in clinical profession.Preferred certification in:Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ)Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS)JHM prioritizes the health and well-being of every employee.
