Position Title:

Assistant Director of Athletic Media RelationsOverview:Assist with the day-to-day operations of the athletic media relations office to generate media and public awareness and support of the intercollegiate athletic programs at the College.Serve as the primary media relations contact for select sports, requiring coordination and dissemination of all promotional and informational materials for each sport and game programs for home events. Maintain all aspects of each sports team on the athletics website (game stories, press releases, statistics, schedules, rosters, biographies). Coordinate media interviews for athletes/coaches, produce and maintain record books and historical information, serve as a liaison to BIG EAST Conference Office for respective sports, and handle weekly reporting. Provide game day and event coverage for respective sports.Assist respective teams with social media platforms to announce general news and awards/honors. Post game day graphics, score updates, clips of live/in-game video, postgame recaps, interviews, and highlights.Coordinate with the social media coordinator, video staff, and graphic designer to implement outward facing promotional materials (posters, graphics) for print and digital dissemination.Create and update archives for teams, student-athletes, staff members, and coaches to ensure proper documentation, news, photos, and other information is accessible upon request for use by media and other outside organizations.Coordinate with contracted photographers to secure photo assets for respective teams for use on athletic websites, by the athletic department, and student-athletes’ NIL needs and social media platforms. Sort and upload the assets to various departmental platforms and provide them to creative teams.Assist with select post-season championships hosted by the department, including but not limited to BIG EAST Conference and Hockey East, and NCAA tournaments.Marginal Duties:Perform all other duties as may be required.Education and Experience Required:Bachelor’s degree in communications, sport management, or related field from an accredited institution required.One to three years of media relations experience in an athletic department or similar field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, and co-workers to complete daily tasks related to the day-to-day media relations activities of the office and to meet promotional goals.Ability to multi-task is essential to the position with the ability to accommodate multiple requests from media for multiple sports.Ability to work closely with staff members from other departments who also cover same teams/athletes, including marketing, video services, graphic design, and social media.Must be flexible and adaptable to accommodate schedule changes.
