Position Overview

The Director, Quality provides leadership and direction for Lucas Milhaupt Quality Assurance strategic initiatives to achieve short and long term quality improvement objectives as it relates to Operations and external Customer quality performance.

This position will be accountable and own the overall quality improvements and results as they relate to quality management systems, personnel development and growth, customer performance and relationships, continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality at manufacturing facilities and lead the organization in achieving positive results in quality metrics.

Responsibilities

Develop and deploy quality assurance and quality control policies, procedures, and objectives to ensure alignment with customer requirements and relevant regulatory standards for our Cudahy, WI and Warwick, RI facilities.

Lead, oversee, and develop the Quality Assurance teams.

Cultivate a comprehensive understanding of products and processes to effectively analyze and interpret customer issues, facilitating the implementation of corrective actions and enhancements to processes or products.

Initiate and monitor continuous improvement activities including customer corrective actions, internal corrective/preventive actions, error-proofing, and scrap reduction with supported departments.

Define goals and metrics for the QA department.

Analyze and communicate quality metrics, trends, and performance to the Senior Leadership Team.

Cultivate and sustain relationships with customers, vendors, and regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to standards.

Collaborate with Procurement to monitor supplier performance and establish, implement, and maintain supplier auditing processes.

Support the implementation of the QF88 process for new process or equipment implementation projects.

Ensure the company adheres to the quality standards established by regulatory agencies, ISO 9001, AS9001, and customer specifications.

Prepare annual budget outlining departmental expenditures.

Recommend new equipment purchases for Department use or quality improvement.

Write Capital Expenditure Requests to justify new capital purchases.

Ensure PPAPs and other revalidation requirements are executed as defined by customers.

Requirements

Lead successful process improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methodologies and root cause analysis.

Utilize proven leadership skills to mentor, develop, and enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the QA departments.

Exhibit strong project management skills, including task prioritization, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple projects concurrently.

Excellent leadership skills, able to effect change throughout all levels of the organization.

Knowledge of metallurgical nonferrous metals and their applications.

High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.

Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.

Resourceful and well organized.

Knowledgeable of problem solving tools: fishbone diagrams, 5-why's, scatter diagram, histogram, check sheet, control charts, Pareto chart, DMAIC, flow charts, FMEA, kaizen, affinity diagram PDCA, root cause analysis, cause and effect diagram, process mapping.

Experience using the following statistical tools: process capability studies, DOE, Gauge R&R, PPAP, SPC.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, or related field.

ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence preferred.

At least 10 years' experience in a manufacturing environment as a Quality Director or Manager role.

Preferably hold a Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification.

Experience in casting, rolling, extrusion, slitting, fabrication, and cleanroom processes.
