  • Job Title: CNC Saw Operator
    Job Overview:
    Set up and operate CNC saws for cutting structural steel to customer specifications
    Responsible for selecting and identifying the correct material, ensuring accurate cuts, performing quality control checks, and maintaining equipment
    The operator must also safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts, perform routine maintenance, and adhere to safety protocols.
    Key Responsibilities:
  • Steel Selection and Identification:
    • Select structural steel, identifying material type, grade, thickness, length, and other specifications.
    • Safely operate remote-controlled overhead cranes and forklifts to transport steel to the cutting area.
  • Saw Operation:
    • Set up and operate CNC band saws to cut steel to the required length, including performing miter cuts.
    • Monitor saw operations and adjust settings as needed to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
    • Perform quality control checks to verify accuracy of cuts and compliance with customer specifications.
  • Material Handling:
    • Organize, count, and load cut parts onto carts for transport to other departments.
    • Load and unload trucks, ensuring safe and efficient handling of steel.
  • Maintenance and Housekeeping:
    • Perform routine maintenance on saws, including blade replacement and general upkeep of associated equipment.
    • Monitor inventory of saw blades and cutting fluid to ensure continuous operation.
    • Keep the work area clean and organized, adhering to housekeeping standards.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs and prepare steel for storage or
    • Safely handle equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Qualifications:
  • Experience using measurement tools such as calipers, tape measures, and protractors.
  • Ability to set up and monitor CNC band saws.
  • Familiarity with operating dual hoist remote-controlled overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Knowledge of different steel types, grades, and sizes.
  • Attention to detail and strong focus on quality control.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to company protocols.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move heavy steel parts.
  • Standing for extended periods and working in various positions (e.g., bending, reaching) as necessary.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and other industrial element.
