The Marketing and Public Relations Director owns the strategy for and oversight of execution plans for shaping, protecting, and growing the Dairy Farmers of America brand through marketing and media campaigns and initiatives. The role supports the DFA brand strategy in positioning the Cooperative according to business goals to multiple audiences including consumers, customers, press, farmer-owners, legislative audiences, employees, and more. Through partnerships and cross collaboration with communications, the social media team, DFA's commercial network, Areas, and more, the Director of Marketing and PR will help create and deliver compelling messages across channels that align to business needs and opportunities. The ideal candidate has experience developing and executing strategic marketing and media campaigns, is creative and results-oriented, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:Oversight of how the DFA brand strategy comes to life across owned, earned, and paid channels and how DFA's position in those spaces consistently supports and elevates our mission, vision, and values.Owns the strategy and budget for DFA consumer marketing and paid and earned media programs, including oversight for the agencies and internal teams responsible for delivering all end-to-end executions and touch points.Oversees media relations, including proactive outreach plan, press releases, media interviews, and crisis management. Alongside PR agency, builds and maintains relationships with key media contacts, influencers, and industry stakeholders to enhance and support DFA's visibility and reputation.Leverages understanding of the media landscape to develop media plans that elevate DFA brand awareness and a positive reputation, while diffusing negative news, including oversight for reactive media statements or talking points. Mitigates risk through ongoing contribution towards the development and execution of a proactive crisis playbook.Leads trade marketing plan strategy and campaigns.Supports how a One DFA approach comes to life through providing a strategic point of view, cross collaboration, and tactical support in how DFA's capabilities show up in external spaces, including trade shows, customer presentations, and collaterals, all in alignment with the DFA brand strategy.Secures marketing partnerships that align to DFA's business and brand objectives and directs team in how to deliver assets or experiences to maximize those partnerships.Budget oversight for marketing, trade, PR, and partnerships, as well as resource allocation for all corresponding deliverables.Partners with the communications department, social media and creative teams, and other internal stakeholders to ensure cohesive messaging and maximize PR or marketing opportunities across audiences.Oversight for the digital media strategy for dfamilk.com that aligns to business and marketing goals, including content strategy and creation, SEO, and ongoing thought leadership.Supports teams throughout the Cooperative in achieving their marketing or campaign objectives, delivering PR or influencer strategies and execution opportunities to align to goals and DFA brand standards.Provides thought leadership and supports creative team.Understands and drives a team focused on a constant and consistent understanding of the DFA brand strategy as well as the Cooperative's focus and goals to effectively and impactfully align brand and marketing initiatives and objectives.Manages a team that can distill reporting and analysis coming out of multiple platforms into key insights to tell a story in order to impact future campaign development and go-to marketing strategies.Is known as a thought leader throughout the Cooperative who is strategically able to define key problems to solve, provide marketing solutions, and identify future growth opportunities.Presents recommendations, key findings, progress, pivots, and challenges to leadership teams.Manages SOW and strategy for agency partners and internal creative team to develop differentiated solutions grounded in insights.The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Minimum Requirements:Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in marketing, business, advertising, communications, or another related field.15+ years in marketing or advertising role.Experience developing marketing plans, leading media campaigns and relations, and applying understanding to metrics.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesWorking knowledge of dairy industry, media landscape, and consumer marketing field.Experience developing marketing and media strategy and activation plans.Ability to unify and develop teams (including ones not directly managed) around common goals and values through leadership, functional expertise, and people management skills.Executive presence to work with the C-suite; strong ability to collaborate with senior leadership and other internal and external partners across multiple teams and disciplines.Strong analytical, decision-making, influence, presentation, and communication skills.Proven ability to build relationships and interface with all levels of individuals internal and external to the organization.Ability to translate insights and data into strategic opportunities and imperatives.Demonstrated capability to make tough, informed decisions quickly to keep performance on track.Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.Leads through personal integrity and diversity of thought.Action-oriented with the ability to think and react quickly to changing circumstances.Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) applications and database experience.Must be able to read, write, and speak English.Understanding of media buying, social platforms, and how to use campaign results and actionable learnings preferred.An Equal Opportunity Employer
