The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that all firearm transfers and related activities comply with relevant federal, state, and local regulations. This role includes conducting thorough audits and investigations, addressing compliance issues promptly, and implementing practices to ensure ongoing adherence to legal and regulatory standards. The Compliance Officer plays a key role in maintaining the company’s reputation for regulatory compliance and mitigating legal risks.Key Responsibilities:Conduct comprehensive audits of firearm transfers and related transactions to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.Investigate potential compliance issues, identifying root causes and working with relevant departments to implement corrective actions.Ensure that all firearm transfers are reviewed for regulatory compliance and document any discrepancies or violations.Collaborate with the Compliance Specialist to provide guidance, support, and training on compliance-related tasks and career development.Develop, implement, and update compliance policies and procedures to reflect changes in laws, regulations, and industry best practices.Coordinate with other departments to address and resolve compliance issues, ensuring timely response and resolution.Conduct internal and external audits, including on-site visits to remote Silencer Central Licensed Locations, to verify adherence to licensing and regulatory standards.Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and enforcement actions, keeping the organization informed and proactive in addressing new compliance requirements.Participate in risk assessments and compliance program reviews, contributing to ongoing improvements in compliance practices.Provide regular reports to management on compliance performance, highlighting audit outcomes, incident resolution, and potential areas of improvement.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):Number of audits and inspections conducted.Number of firearm transfers reviewed for compliance.Incident response time (e.g., time taken to address and resolve compliance issues).Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Criminal Justice, Business, or Law (preferred).Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, auditing, or a related field.In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local firearm laws and regulations.Strong investigative and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across departments.Ability to travel for on-site audits as needed.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
