Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national practice, seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team as an experienced Workers' Compensation Defense Paralegal supporting attorneys at our Orange County office. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a paperless environment with prior experience supporting workers’ compensation defense attorneys as well as experience e-filing (EAMS filing), creating QME/AME packages, managing attorney calendars, preparing legal documents and correspondence, trial exhibits, and scheduling depositions and examinations.

This role requires the employee to be in the office three days per week. This position could also be based out of our Los Angeles office.

IMPORTANT QUALITIES:

Communication Skills:

The paralegal must be able to document and present their legal research and any related information to their supervising attorney(s) in a timely manner.Computer Skills:

The paralegal needs to be familiar with using computers for legal research and litigation support as well as support in any other facets of law. In addition, the paralegal needs to be familiar with computer software that may help them organize and maintain legal documents.Interpersonal Skills:

The paralegal will spend most of their time working closely with clients and other professionals and must be able to develop good relationships. As such, they must make clients comfortable sharing personal information regarding their cases.Organizational Skills:

The paralegals will be responsible for many cases at times. They must adapt to a fast-paced environment with constant changing of deadlines. In addition, in order to be efficient the paralegal must contain excellent organizational skills.Research Skills:

The paralegal will need to have good research and investigative skills to conduct legal research.

BILLING HOUR TARGET:

100 hours per month

Job Description:

Perform administrative duties, including proofreading and editing all materials for extreme accuracy and clarity.The ability to accurately type 65-75 words per minute.Ensure accuracy of naming conventions for cases and proper saving of all electronic files related to assigned matters; experience with iManage is a plus.Exercise knowledge of legal documents and terminology.Assist with calendar calls and deposition scheduling, as needed.Experience with e-filing, all types of discovery requests, responses to opposing counsel, motions, calendaring and docketing deadlines; knowledge with EAMS is a plus.

Requirements/Skills:

3+ years experience in Workers' Compensation practice is preferred.ABA Approved Paralegal Certificate.Knowledge of billing and adherence to client guidelines.Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Exceptional organizational skills.Positive attitude.

Benefits:

This role offers an hourly salary and bonus opportunity. The hourly salary range for this position is $28.00 to $40.00. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also offers a full benefits package.
