Job Title: Registered Nurse Operating Room - PRNJob Summary: To act as patient advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs through collaboration with other members of the healthcare team and supporting the philosophy, objectives and goals of the facility.The Circulating Nurse will assess the perioperative needs of individual patients including but not limited to adult, pediatric, neonatal and adolescent patients.Qualifications: Degree from accredited nursing programBLS/ACLS certificationLicense as registered nurse in the state the facility is locatedMinimum of three years work experience as a staff nurseBenefits:Employee Assistance Plan401(k) retirement plan with a company matchAnd more!Responsibilities: Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychological and cognitive statusFormulates a goal directed plan of care, which is prioritized and based on determined nursing diagnosis and patient outcomesImplements care in a knowledgeable, skilled consistent manner in reaching the desired patient outcomes through nursing processesPrepares room, equipment and supplies needed for procedure, including anesthesia suppliesOpens sterile packs and supplies, using Surgeon's preference card for specific requestsPositions patient for safe functional alignment, exposure of surgical site and to provide physical supportAssists Anesthesiologist with monitor leads, blood pressure cuff and oximeter placement and remain at patient's side during induction and positioningPrepares patient's operative site, again confirming procedure with Surgeon's history and physicalEstablish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available center resources of time, personnel, equipment and suppliesPerforms efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons and documenting events Practices effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision makingPerforms documentation duties in the patient record, which is timely, accurate and concise.In addition: checks chart, confirm consent, history and physical, laboratory results, allergies and confirms operative site.Works as part of a team in delivering patient careMaintains CPR/ACLS certificationAttends all mandatory in services and participates in staff meetingsRemains flexible, adaptive and able to accept and implement new ideas and approachesTreats all patients equally adopting the centers Patient Rights policyReviews and carries out physician orders in an appropriate professional mannerWillingness to assist with other duties when asked
