Summary
Freight Forwarder Import is responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient importation of goods by air and ocean, including all aspects of the logistics process such as customs clearance, carrier booking, cargo tracking, and delivery to the final destination. This role involves coordinating with multiple parties, including airlines, steamship lines, customs brokers/agents, and trucking companies to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage the importation of goods by air and ocean, including customs clearance and delivery to the final destinationCommunicate with airlines and steamship lines, customs brokers/agents, and trucking companies to ensure timely delivery of goodsTrack shipments and provide updates to customers as neededPrepare and submit required documentation for customs clearance, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, and other relevant paperworkEnsure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, including customs regulations and trade lawsManage relationships with customers and provide exceptional customer serviceEducational Background/Work Experience
Prior experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is preferredExperience in imports is highly desirableSkills and Competencies
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as calculating costs and ratesOther Skills
Excellent organizational and time management skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAttention to detail and accuracyAbility to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environmentFunction / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / Processes
