Director of Marketing:

Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing leads and manages the strategic marketing, communications, and public relation initiatives on behalf of the firm. The Director reports to the CEO and Principals. The Marketing Director supervises the Marketing Department which presently consists of a Marketing Coordinator and a Senior Graphic Designer.

Position Goals:

Williams Blackstock Architects is an award-winning architecture and interior design firm seeking a self-starting and creative Director of Marketing to lead, manage, and execute the firm’s strategic marketing plan. The plan includes coalescing our brand, internal and external firm communications, support of business development efforts, and the public relation initiatives of our creative design firm. The Director will prepare and implement a comprehensive strategic marketing plan that will solidify the firm's brand, refine our voice and social media presence in the design community to reach target clients, talent, and markets. Our ideal candidate will lead our Marketing Coordinator and Senior Graphic Designer to efficiently carry out their current responsibilities and expand marketing operations to increase the firm’s reach and enhance our brand.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in marketing, with a strong background in marketing within the architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry or professional marketing agency experience in a supervisory role. Experience in the various sectors of marketing required for the position is desirable. Excellent creative writing, graphic design, communication, research, time management, team leadership and planning skills are required. Candidate should understand and appreciate design, with a creative skillset for marketing architectural and interior design services. Candidate must be capable of research, understanding, and application of the latest trends illustrated in leading architectural periodicals, publications, and digital media outlets. Candidate should have an outgoing personality, taking initiative to improve and expand our reputation in the design community, enhance our firm culture, and lastly and most importantly to increase firm business and exposure in the firm’s target client markets.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Digital Content Management and Social Media Platforms are required. Exposure and working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite – including Photoshop and InDesign are preferred. An understanding (with on-the-job training) of Deltek, the firm’s architectural database and financial software, Open Asset an architectural photography database, and the HUB by Knowledge Architecture software which is an internal office intranet system – will be required to perform this role. The ability to identify and cultivate marketing assets and campaigns within the firm by communicating directly with firm leadership and staff is required.

Job Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain, and implement a long-range Strategic Marketing Plan for the firm that supports the one, three, and ten-year strategic goals of the firm.

Lead and supervise the Marketing Team, including holding weekly team meetings to manage resources and projects to meet strategic marketing goals.

Active communication with COO, CEO, CFO and Principals, including leading monthly marketing meetings with CEO, CFO and Principals to review strategic initiatives.

Develop and uphold brand standards to ensure best practices are adhered to firmwide.

Work with Marketing Coordinator to manage responses to requests for proposals, develop proposal outlines, prepare proposal content, graphics, and layouts. This may include assisting the Marketing Coordinator with production efforts in times of need.

Work with Marketing Coordinator to assist Principals and Project Managers with interview preparation and support.

Coordinate award submissions, press releases, and calls for publications and presentations.

Develop and lead a professional digital influence & web marketing strategy, including management of social media planning, content generation and post scheduling that meets the needs of the firm’s strategic goals.

Enhance the firm’s professional profile and maximize presence through platforms such as website, brochures, publications, and social media accounts (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram).

Develop and distribute collateral marketing materials.

Provide comprehensive research for marketing and business development activities and benchmark internal marketing metrics.

Oversee and work with the Marketing Coordinator to ensure the office intranet site content is relevant and fresh.

Develop and oversee a firm-wide asset management plan to maintain project data, project photography, project design assets, client data, and searchable indexes to streamline marketing efforts.

Analyze and evaluate the firm's marketing effectiveness, generate strategies for improvement.

Develop, maintain, and expand marketing connections with consultants, new and existing clients, and contacts in the areas of WBA potential business.

Participate in industry organizations and attend events to build relationships.

Work with the Marketing Coordinator to oversee and manage project photography. Schedule, organize and review final photography with Principals.

Coordinate and track business development efforts with Principals.

Identify and curate marketing assets and campaigns within the firm through observation and communication with architects, designers, and firm leadership.

Work with Senior Graphic Designer and Principals to oversee and manage firm meetings (monthly) and social gatherings.
