Senior/Staff Research Engineer, Mapping & Localization
Plus, Santa Clara, California, us, 95053
Responsibilities:
Lidar Algorithm Development:
Develop, implement, and optimize LiDAR-based localization and mapping algorithms for autonomous vehicles. Sensor Fusion Development:
Integrate LiDAR data with other sensor data (e.g., GPS, IMU, cameras) to create accurate, real-time maps and localization solutions. Solution Deployment:
Lead deployment of localization and mapping solutions into the autonomous driving stack collaborating with software, hardware and product teams. Issue Resolution:
Triage and debug issues related to localization and mapping, ensuring continuous improvement and system robustness. Map Support:
Support the online and offline generation and interfacing of maps to maintain and enhance localization accuracy. System Improvement:
Drive improvements to the continuous integration (CI) system for localization and mapping, enhancing efficiency and reliability. Required Skills: MS or PhD in CS, EE, Robotics or a related field. Proven experience in LiDAR-based localization and mapping for autonomous vehicles or robotics. Strong background in sensor fusion, particularly with LiDAR, GPS, IMU, and camera data. Proficiency in C++ and ROS. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical team members. Preferred Skills: Relevant industry experience (prior work on self-driving vehicles, drone, autonomy and/or robotics projects). Experience with Gaussian splatting/NeRF is a plus. Experience with deep learning techniques applied to localization and mapping is a plus. Salary Range: $170,000 - $210,000 a year Our compensations (cash and equity) are determined based on the position, your location, qualifications, and experience.
