The mission of the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) is to protect, preserve, and promote the health and well-being of all Boston residents, particularly the most vulnerable. The BPHC envisions a thriving Boston where all residents live healthy, fulfilling lives free of racism, poverty, violence, and other systems of oppression. The BPHC sets an expectation that all staff and leadership commit, individually and as part of the BPHC team, to hold ourselves accountable to establishing a culture of antiracism and advance racial equity and justice through each of our bureaus, programs, and offices.

The Division of Violence Prevention's Capacity Building & Training Initiative (CBTI) is seeking a full-time Senior Program Manager to co-facilitate CBTI's trauma-informed and equitable training and quality improvement activities with City and community partners. The ideal candidate will have experience in human services (e.g. in a youth program, community health center, etc.) and is passionate about creating more trauma-informed and equitable organizations and systems. They have strong group training and facilitation skills, including navigating learning and dialogue on complex topics such as trauma, resilience, stress, wellbeing, racial equity, and gender equity. They have experience managing complex projects and are familiar with or excited to learn more about organizational change, quality improvement and evaluation. They are committed to modeling a trauma-informed and equitable approach in all elements of their work.

Who We Are

The Capacity Building and Training Initiative prevents and addresses violence through strengthening trauma-informed and equitable approaches among providers and systems serving children, youth, adults and families in Boston and beyond. As a team, we develop and deliver multi-session public training institutes and adapted workshops with service providers and young people. We also partner with organizations one-on-one and via Learning Collaboratives to build the capacity of staff at all levels (direct service, management and leadership) to enhance the quality of their programming, policies, protocols and workplace culture. CBTI is proud to work closely with the Office of Recovery Services, Start Strong, the Center for Behavioral Health and Wellness and the Mayor's Office on grant-funded initiatives related to violence prevention, youth substance use prevention and behavioral health.

CBTI seeks to model internally the practices we promote with our external partners; namely utilizing a trauma-informed and equitable approach for ourselves as individuals, as a team, and in supervision. This includes a 'culture of care' or caring for the caregiver, strategies for supporting individual and team physical and emotional safety, cultivating positive relationships, access to resources, collaboration and more.
