TreePeople is an environmental nonprofit organization that is mobilizing people, businesses, philanthropists, and public agencies to work together to create green, resilient communities by planting trees, capturing rainwater, greening schools, and providing fun environmental educational activities. We inspire, engage, and support the community to increase the urban tree canopy and address climate threats and environmental justice in Los Angeles.The individual giving associate is responsible for helping to support the Development team's comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure philanthropic support while also managing asmall portfolio and principal gift prospects.Assist with answering member inquiries via phone and email, including donation requests/questions and Tree Dedication orders.Be able to come to the TreePeople HQ in Beverly Hills at least 2-3x a week.Assist the Director of Development with donor outreach, cultivation, and strategy as needed, in a moves management approach.Research and qualify mid-level and lapsed donors to build and replenish the major donor pipeline.Work closely with the Development team to ensure timely portfolio moves and solicitations.Assist with building and expanding the TreePeople’s Tree and Bench Dedication program as needed.Assist with growing The Canopy, TreePeople’s monthly giving program.Develop and execute cultivation and stewardship opportunities for donors and prospects in the portfolio and participate in donor-focused events.Develop and steward a robust portfolio of individual, foundation, and planned giving donors, and prospects for principal, major, and planned gifts.Create and facilitate strong strategies for planned giving, making sure to incorporate the vision of TreePeople’s Legacy Grove. Help facilitate customized solicitation strategies based on the strategic objectives of the organization and the interests of the donor.Engage in face-to-face and virtual solicitation of major gifts, and partner with program staff on donor engagement opportunities.Work collaboratively across the organization and individual departments to advance TreePeople’s collective fundraising vision and goals.Assist in the creation of donor-focused direct mail collateral and strategic fundraising appeals.Analyze giving trends within the managed portfolio and provide appropriate strategy recommendations.Utilize Salesforce to record all donor interactions.Assist with donor-focused events as required.Support the organization’s key priorities, such as working towards environmental and social justice for underserved/under-resourced communities, restoring ecosystems, planting trees, and incorporating nature-based solutions such as community education, tools, and support to create environmental change.Other duties as assigned.Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies/science, communications, marketing, journalism, business administration, or a liberal arts field is a plus.2+ years of experience in major gift fundraising for a medium to large nonprofit organization with a diverse portfolio of prospects.Experience directly soliciting and closing gifts of $10K+.Experience and knowledge of Planned Giving.Fundraising and campaign experience in the environmental, social justice, or conservation field is strongly preferred.Ability to build productive relationships with a variety of constituents.Must have familiarity with various fundraising concepts and demonstrate a command of industry standards, ethics, and integrity.Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.Must be organized with strong attention to detail.Excellent organizational, time-management, and follow-up skills.Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.Working knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM is a plus.A strong alignment with TreePeople’s mission and a passion for the environment is important.Physical RequirementsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer/laptop.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds when needed.
