Job Description:Role Summary/Purpose:The AVP, Solution Architect craves getting into the weeds of hard problems and figuring out how to make things work. This dynamic and collaborative role will be part of the Synchrony Financial renowned Innovation Station – the hotbed of innovation and thought leadership throughout the company.This Solution Architect will architect complex business solutions by partnering with business and technology leaders to understand key challenges as well as produce process flows and system interaction diagrams to help drive these solutions. Do you consider UX in your decision making, and think like a customer?Have tech chops: You need to be ready to get into the weeds on complex technology solutions.Essential Responsibilities:Be part of a development team through all phases of the Agile development life cycleDesign solutions to business needs by documenting systems, data, and business logic of an end to end business process.Lead the application team towards our microservice/cloud native design architecture.Influence and collaborate with software developers, UX designers, product managers, application architects, and customer application experts to create amazing appsEnsure compliance with architecture, security and technology standards set by SynchronyAssist in crafting and maintaining the future state technology architectural strategy and roadmapParticipate in Agile scrums consisting of cross-functional teamsParticipate in addressing root cause analyses, incident reports and provide direction in problem resolutionAbility to analyze production defects, troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, and implement fixesProvide 24x7 on-call support periodically throughout the yearPassionate about the latest technologies, open source projects and languages;Identify ways to increase efficiency and improve system performanceWork with third party vendors to develop software and/or integrate their software into the company's productsPerform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.Qualifications/Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree and a minimum of 5 years of solution architecture experience OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED with 7 years of experience with solution architecture experience.Strong solution architecture skills and experience designing complex technical solutionsStrong understanding of alerting capabilities from source to destination (email, sms, push)Familiarity with microservices, event-driven architecture and cloud native design patternsUnderstanding of modern web front end frameworks like ReactJSFamiliarity with email/sms delivery platforms such as, but not limited to, Oracle ResponsysJava development skills are a plusFamiliarity with JSON, REST and XML based web servicesExperience building and consuming web services via SOAP and RESTStrong communication skills with technical and non-technical peersDesired Characteristics:Strong cross-functional team player with the ability to work seamlessly across a matrix organizationDesire to work in a dynamic, fast paced environmentStrong interpersonal skills with ability to influence clients, team members, management and external groupsStrong attention to detail in a team environmentStrong oral and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to analyze, use structured problem solving and available tools to troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, action plans, impact and resolution optionsExperience developing and supporting financial/banking applicationsExcellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence clients, team members, management and external groupsGrade/Level: 11The salary range for this position is

110,000.00 - 185,000.00

USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.Eligibility Requirements:You must be 18 years or olderYou must have a high school diploma or equivalentYou must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding processYou must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
