The Associate Director of Development (ADD) at Northern is integral to advancing the organization’s fundraising efforts and enhancing donor relations. This role supports major fundraising campaigns, such as the Annual Appeal and capital projects, while cultivating and managing relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors. The ADD also oversees vendor relationships for development, marketing, graphic design, and social media, ensuring alignment with Northern’s goals. Additionally, this position manages Northern’s donor and volunteer databases and related activities, oversees the grant application process, key fundraising events. Collaborating closely with the COO, CEO and Development Committee, the Development Officer plays a vital role in driving Northern’s fundraising strategy and broadening its impact in the community.Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising and Donor EngagementSupport the planning and execution of Northern’s Annual Appeal.Support and implement strategies to increase donations for capital projects and other major fundraising campaigns.Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors.Identify, research, and engage new donor prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.Organize and oversee special events to enhance donor engagement and generate revenue.Track and analyze fundraising efforts, providing regular updates to the COO, CEO and Development Committee.Manage the Annual Report process, including its' development, completion and dissemination.Grant Writing and ManagementResearch potential grant opportunities and manage the entire grant application process, including proposal writing, submission, and reporting.Closely collaborate with the COO, CEO and CFO to identify funding priorities and develop compelling grant proposals.Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date grant calendar, including submissions, prospects, reporting requirements, and status.Create and maintain Microsoft Planner as a project management tool.Vendor ManagementManage relationships with vendors related to marketing, graphic design, social media, etc.Ensure vendors deliver high-quality content/products that align with Northern’s brand and fundraising goals.Oversee the development and distribution of marketing materials, including brochures, monthly newsletters, and email campaigns.Event Planning and ExecutionManage the planning, execution, and follow-up of key fundraising events.Coordinate event logistics, including vendor management, marketing, and donor outreach.Work with the COO, CEO, Executive Assistant to the CEO, and the Development Committee to ensure events align with Northern’s mission and fundraising objectives.Serve as a Northern ambassador at local community events when appropriate.Manage development of press releases and press attendance at Northern events.Administrative and Strategic SupportMaintain accurate donor records and manage donor databases.Ensure maintenance of Northern's website.Prepare regular reports for the CEO and Board of Trustees on fundraising progress, event outcomes, and grant status.Collaborate with the CEO to develop and refine Northern’s fundraising strategy and business plan.Provide administrative support to the Development Committee, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and documenting decisions.Participate in monthly Development Committee meetings.Assess Northern's needs for a development/marketing intern, and provide supervision should this role be filled.Volunteer Record ManagementMaintain volunteer records and manage volunteer database.Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, non-profit management, or a related field.5+ years of experience in fund development, event planning, project management, and/or a related area.Proven experience in relationship management, including donors, vendors, boards, staff, partners, etc.Superior grant writing and proposal development skills.Familiarity with marketing and communication strategies, particularly in a non-profit setting.Proficiency with donor management software and Microsoft suite of products.Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with strong attention to detail.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Some supervisory experience.Other Requirements
