Join NIRA, INC., a rapidly expanding women-owned small business serving the IT needs of federal government agencies. We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will play a key role in maintaining financial records in Deltek Costpoint-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, establishing cost accounting processes, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This is a hybrid position in Washington, DC, requiring the Senior Accountant to work onsite up to one day per week.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Support Annual Small Business Administration (SBA) Audit
Prepare ad hoc or various accounting/financial reports as required
Prepare annual closeout documents, including sending year-end 1099 forms to independent contractors, and assist tax accountant in preparing annual tax reports
Establish indirect rates and cost pools in accordance with Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) regulations, and support DCAA audit
Audits & Reconciliation
Provide audit support for Payroll, 401(k), Health Insurance, Group Life Insurance, Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Banking, and company credit card transactions
Complete credit card reconciliation and benefits reconciliation at the end of each month
Prepare Month-End Close and monthly reconciliation reports
Accounts Management
Responsible for both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), revenue recognition, general ledger, cost allocations, and indirect rates
Track revenue, costs, and profitability, providing insight into project performance for Project Managers
Project & Cost Management
Set up and maintain all projects for Time and Materials (T&M), Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP), and Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF) Contracts
Prepare biweekly journal entries for entry into the general ledger utilizing Deltek Costpoint by calculating and collecting necessary data
Assist with pricing for cost proposals and provide cost buildup for projects
Process Improvement
Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Accounting Policies and Procedures
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
5+ years of experience managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable
3+ years of experience performing accounting functions for a federal contracting firm
2+ Experiences with creating reports using business intelligence (BI) tools
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards, government contracting regulations such as Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
Microsoft Office skills including Excel and Word
Desired Experience
Experiences with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), especially Deltek Costpoint
Experiences with supporting DCAA audit
Experiences with supporting cost proposal development
