Minimum Requirements:

PhD in early childhood education (or a PhD with related topic to young children may be considered)

5-8 years university-level experience teaching in the field of early childhood education and/or PK-3 teacher preparatory programs, preferably at a Tier 1 university

Demonstrated leadership in higher education (faculty and/or administration) and/or public policy arenas in early education

Demonstrated experience in working with nonprofits, grassroots organizations and practitioners

Demonstrated expertise in developing early educators, with preference given to those with knowledge and experience of applying system perspectives to early childhood workforce development

Knowledge and/or experience with North Texas higher education institutions and the local context of North Texas

Knowledge and/or experience of state and/or national trends related to early educator workforce, workforce credentials, and career/or navigation, particularly issues facing families and children placed at risk

Proven ability to collaborate while taking lead for new initiatives

Interest in and ability to conduct research within the early childhood workforce development field preferred

Demonstrated leadership in promoting educational equity and workforce diversity polices and strategies and understanding of how these policies and strategies contribute to reducing income- and race-based opportunity gaps

Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to manage complex projects and move them forward to completionExcellent creative thinking, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

The Executive Director will be a dual report to the CEO of Child Care Associates and the Director of the Institute of Early Childhood Development and Education at Texas A&M.

Develop the vision for and operate the Center for the Early Educator

Serve as the Executive Director of the Center and guide its long-term structure and organizational development to best achieve its missionDevelop organizational documents, vision, mission, values and goals distinctive to the Center in collaboration with CCA, Texas A&M and with input from community partnersDevelop and enhance educator traffic along defined educator pathways

Develop and/or promote early educators career pathways (recognizing existing state, regional and local options already in existence)

Ensure all degree, credential and training programs in North Texas are meaningfully curated towards introducing opportunities and options to early educators

Train, support and supervise career navigators working with workforce board areas to support early educators along a career pathway

Ensure all degree, credential and training programs in North Texas are meaningfully curated towards introducing opportunities and options to early educators

Ensure early educators have supported access to financial supports to offset the costs of earning degrees and credentialsDevelop promotional information, social media and literature to help promote career options among early educators in appropriate languagesDevelop and maintain research on the North Texas early educator workforce

Develop initial research surveying the early educator workforce in North Texas as a baseline and snapshot of current status

Convene higher education and nonprofit partners to serve in an advisory function for current and future workforce studiesDevelop partnerships and system to collect data that track progress on developing an early educator workforceDevelop an applied research agenda informed by the field and from collective insights from the collaborative

Help lead and coordinate priorities for research that impact the field of early education and early educators

Respond to collective insights and data to identify gaps and opportunities for research and learning

Collaborate with researchers on projects, analysis and research related to developing early educators and the child care workforceHelp identify local partners interested in participating in the Center’s prioritized research agendaConvene a collective of system partners across North Texas

Develop a big tent, collective impact strategy towards ensuring North Texas has the early educator workforce it needs today and in the decade ahead

Develop key relationships with universities, community colleges, workforce boards, nonprofits and other key partners involved in developing early educatorsConvene partners (in-person and remotely) towards ensuring partners are aware of collective need, informed of collective strategies, and sharing data on progress towards metricsFunding and resource management

Support Texas A&M and CCA in joint fundraising and grant and/or donor reporting on behalf of the center

Play a critical role in strategic planning for grants, grant writing, meeting with donors and forging new relationships towards ensuring the center is fully funded

Meet regularly with development staff from both organizations to serve as primary or secondary support on grant applications for center funding

Other related duties as assigned.
