The Global Sourcing and Procurement (GSP) organization is accountable for driving and delivering Procurement value to support stakeholders’ and organizational strategic objectives. The GSP function delivers value to BioMarin by leading transformation change and implementing industry leading category strategies that directly support the corporate strategy. The GSP organization leverages market intelligence, subject matter expertise and business insights in the procurement of good and services and management of BioMarin’s growing third party spend of $1B+. Through collaboration with our external suppliers and internal business partners, GSP helps bring innovative new medicines to patients.Role Scope:

The Global Enterprise Services Sourcing Leader will be part of the GSP Leadership Team and reports to the Vice President of Global Sourcing and Procurement. This leader must implement industry leading procurement practices, develop deep and wide relationships with stakeholders, drive innovation and continuous improvement in the ways of working. They will provide mentoring and management to ensure colleague engagement and professional development. The role is responsible for leading a group of procurement professionals and operational experts in supporting BioMarin across a wide group of categories:Commercial/ Marketing ServicesInformation TechnologyContingent LaborProfessional ServicesPeople/ HR ServicesDistributors & Supply ChainCorporate TravelGlobal MeetingsExpense ManagementCorporate Credit Card StrategyThis role will collaborate closely with category leaders from across the Global Sourcing & Procurement organization to ensure that their stakeholders are fully supported regardless of reporting lines.Strategy & Leadership:Business Strategies: ability to plan strategically and align projects with BioMarin goals; design, develop and shepherd sourcing and category strategies that support business strategy and enable world class procurement execution.Stakeholder Management: build credibility through strong relationships and solid track record of results, via a collaborative approach ability to manage senior stakeholders across various functions.Leadership: provide excellent leadership to the team, actively participate and contribute as a GSP Leadership Team member.Finance Collaboration: align with the Chief Procurement Officer and GSP peers to develop and operational strategies.External perspective: maintain an active understanding of industry trends and functional practices.Ways of working: Be the subject matter expert on evolving procurement practices and standards.Communication: skilled in written and verbal communication.Operational Focus:Sourcing and category management strategies: spearhead creation and implementation of sourcing strategies to drive savings and risk mitigation.Supplier Relationship Management: create and implement collaborative business plans with strategic suppliers.Negotiations: Lead complex negotiations that require a detailed strategic plan.Results Focused: drive to measurable outcomes by delivering hard and soft savings.Source to Pay Transformation: provide strategy and operational input into transformation efforts.Compliance: ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.Skills Required:Demonstrated experience with sourcing and procurement in the pharmaceutical industry.Strong people management and team leadership experience.Experience in supplier management and complex contract negotiations.Results-driven mindset and capabilities.Excellent communicator and interpersonal skills.Experience with procurement technology, preference for Ariba/ SAP.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related field.12+ years of experience in Procurement/ Sourcing/ Supply Chain.Strong networking skills and a proven ability to build productive and collaborative relationships.Ability to work in high pressure environment, often under tight deadlines.Travel Requirements:Periodic travel will be required to various BioMarin sites and supplier locations.Workstyle:Onsite presence required 2x weekly. This position can be based at our Novato, CA - or - San Rafael, CA campus.
