CY2023Details:This is an outstanding opportunity to join a collegial academic environment and work in Primary Children’s Hospital (PCH) and the University of Utah with a childhood blood disorder and cancer program that U.S. News ranks among the top 30 in the nation. The Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Pediatric Hematologist, with focused training in pediatric benign hematology, hemophilia, and thrombophilia.The physician will provide clinical patient care services to patients with benign non-malignant blood disorders focusing on benign hematology, bleeding disorders and hemophilia, and thrombosis. The physician will provide care in a multidisciplinary Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) to patients with benign hematologic conditions in the outpatient clinic and inpatient unit, including an inpatient hematology consult service. This physician will also co-attend on the inpatient hematology consult service with other division faculty.There is an opportunity to participate in clinical and translational research projects and to implement clinical trials. Clinical activities will be carried out at Primary Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Service Line outpatient clinic and inpatient unit in Salt Lake City, UT as well as the soon to open Miller Campus of Primary Children’s Hospital in Lehi, UT. In addition to clinical service, there is an expectation for academic work, including education, investigation, administration as well as advocacy.The pediatric hematologist will collaborate with an outstanding group of hematology genetic counselors, pediatric hematologists/oncologists, as well as hematopathologists, pediatric BMT program, and the adult hematology programs, which include active clinical and basic research programs. The Division is made up of 25 pediatric oncologists, including 4 pediatric BMT attendings, and 3 PhD investigators who focus in one of four areas – Oncology, Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, or Pediatric Cancer Genetics. The program sees over 200 newly diagnosed children with cancer annually between the ages of 0 and 21 years of age.Qualified candidates must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, and must have focused training in pediatric hematology, hemophilia, and thrombophilia. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.The Department and University offers a competitive salary and an unmatched benefits program, including non-contributory retirement contributions of 20.2% of annual salary that vest immediately.
