Director of Finance for Local Nonprofit

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field with a minimum of 2 years’ work experience preferred; or a minimum of 3-5 years related work experience.

Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.

Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office Programs with strong QuickBooks skills.

Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.

Related experience in financial and budgetary work.

Bank Reconciliation experience required.

Demonstrated ability to be productive in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with multiple projects.

Ability to make independent decisions.

Patience, kindness, and enthusiasm in daily interactions with patrons of programs.

Ability to function independently, maintain flexibility, and support co-workers.

Driver’s license and willingness to travel within the community.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Serve as the Fiscal Officer for all grants and funds. Prepare and submit all required fiscal reports to funding/grant sources.

Supervise the handling of all income and revenues according to the fiscal management policy and procedures adopted by the Board of Directors and according to generally accepted accounting procedures.

Submit bi-weekly payroll through the portal of our outsourced Payroll/Human Resources Management Company.

Prepare reimbursement requests and associated invoices and submit same to funding sources in a timely manner.

Prepare checks for approval and disbursement and transmit to the Executive Director on a regular schedule that meets the payment requirement of the organization.

Maintain records of receipts and expenditures according to the fiscal management policy and procedures adopted by the Board of Directors and generally accepted accounting principles.

Prepare Treasurer’s report in a timely manner prior to regularly scheduled meetings of the Board of Directors, attendance is required at these meetings.

Reconcile bank accounts and bank statements monthly.

Provide information, records, and assistance as required by the auditor, review audit when received and participate in the audit exit review.

Assist Executive Director in preparation of all budgets and reporting.

Assist Executive Director in board activities and participate in designated committees.

Work with other directors to ensure all programs and events are within budget.

Coordinate contracts, agreements, and subsequent reports to funding sources as required.

Coordinate and/or supervise all billing and invoicing with clients and vendors.

Maintain permits, licenses, codes, and inspections.

File documents as required and maintain a master list of files.

Supervise purchasing and inventory for administration, building, and programs.

Maintain and keep current an inventory/property list for auditing purposes.
