Summary/Objective:

The role of Director of Finance at Ute Mountain Casino Hotel is crucial in directing all financial operations for the casino and its associated venues, embodying the intersection of financial acumen and strategic oversight. With responsibilities spanning financial planning, accounting practices, and ensuring procedural integrity, the Director of Finance plays a vital role in maintaining robust relationships with banking and lending institutions, Tribal authorities, and the broader financial community. The position demands rigorous adherence to GAAP, Ute Mountain Ute Gaming Commission regulatory requirements, Federal and State regulations, and related Compact and Minimum Internal Control Standards. The Director of Finance oversees an extensive portfolio, including Finance, Accounting, Purchasing, Receiving, Revenue Audit, Cage & Vault, and Payroll, ensuring these areas not only comply with laws and standards but also contribute to the strategic and financial objectives of the organization.

The objective of the Director of Finance position is to champion the integrity and efficiency of financial operations, aligning them with the casino’s strategic goals. This entails crafting and executing financial strategies that optimize resource allocation, enhance financial performance, and foster sustainable growth. Qualifications:

General:

Must be at least 21 years old to obtain a UMUGC Key License (required). Must be able to pass the UMUGC and CG background investigations (no financial crimes or other felonies).

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration required. MS/MBA and/or CPA a plus.

Candidates with an Accounting degree and/or a CPA are given preference.

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of experience in a Director of Finance and Accounting, Financial Director, Controller, or similar role in the gaming industry required.

Experience in tribal gaming preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge:

Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting, and budgeting within the gaming and hospitality industry.

Extensive knowledge of operational, financial, and business management processes, particularly within a casino or similar entertainment venue.

Proficient in the regulations governing the gaming industry, including those specific to tribal gaming operations, as well as Federal and State laws applicable to financial operations.

Deep familiarity with financial systems and technologies, including Microsoft GP, Oracle, SAP, or equivalent, and the ability to leverage SQL and database management for strategic advantage.

Adept in strategic financial planning, capital investment planning, and financial modeling to align with the organization's strategic goals.

Skills:

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and interpret financial models and forecasts.

Strong leadership and team management skills, capable of motivating and guiding the finance team toward achieving the casino's financial and strategic objectives.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the proficiency to engage with Tribal authorities, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders.

Advanced proficiency in financial technology platforms and data analytics, using data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions and improve financial operations.

Mastery in managing and optimizing financial operations, including accounting practices, cash flow management, and financial reporting.

Abilities:

Ability to design and implement comprehensive financial strategies that support operational objectives and the overall mission of the casino.

Capacity to oversee and refine financial processes and systems to enhance performance, ensure compliance, and optimize resource allocation.
