The Vice President for Communications and External Relations, a member of the President's senior leadership team, leads the College's integrated brand and communication strategy to advance the reputation of Spelman College and its mission. The VP serves as the chief communications officer, responsible for media relations, crisis communications, special events, marketing communications, internal communications, and digital strategy.Job Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Works proactively with the President to position the College and develop key messages about the College's strengths and priorities.Partners with senior leaders to define and advance the College's strategic communications objectives.Seeks opportunities to promote Spelman in regional and national media.Collaborates with departments to enhance online and print materials according to brand guidelines.Develops and executes integrated communications strategies for fundraising campaigns.Leads media relations outreach and provides oversight for the College's media relations strategy.Oversees the execution of high-level campus-wide events and ensures the availability of event planning resources.Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree is required, along with a minimum of ten years of experience in communications, journalism, or public relations. Supervisory experience and a record of using data to drive decision-making are essential. Strong project management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are also required. A Master's degree is preferred.Preferred Qualifications:

An engaged member of established organizations and associations in your field of expertise is preferred.Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle office supplies, operate computer and other office equipment, talk, walk, sit, and hear.Work Location/Schedule:
