CLEAR is transforming the travel and aviation industry by creating friction-free digital and physical experiences for both travelers and internal team members. The Director of Product Design will be responsible for developing and executing design strategies that enhance the travel experience across web, mobile, and in-person kiosk touchpoints. This role will also focus on building and optimizing our membership growth stack, ensuring seamless enrollment, subscription, and account management experiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UX and industrial design, with a proven track record of leading design teams in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
What you'll do:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, central & field operations, marketing, and member care to craft a compelling vision for the future of CLEAR's Aviation and Membership products.Lead the design efforts for creating friction-free travel experiences across web, mobile, and in-person kiosks.Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and iterate on design solutions.Develop and maintain design systems and guidelines to ensure consistency across all platforms.Design and optimize enrollment and subscription experiences to drive membership growth.Create intuitive self-serve account management tools and member care solutions.Work closely with the growth and marketing teams to align design efforts with business goals.Analyze user data and feedback to continuously improve the membership experience.Regularly share work with internal and external stakeholders to provide visibility.Manage relationships and drive collaboration across product groups working on overlapping parts of the member experience.Manage and mentor a team of product and industrial designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.How you'll measure success:
Your primary focus is to drive member growth (acquisition, retention, bookings) while continually enhancing the internal and external customer experience (CSAT, NPS & meeting product success criteria). You'll work collaboratively with product management, engineering and business stakeholders to align on goals and hold the team accountable to meeting those goals while maintaining a high bar for design quality and craft. You give direction to designers within your team, providing mentorship and opportunities to uplevel skills and advance professional growth.
What you're great at:
10+ years of experience in product and industrial designProven experience in leading product design teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentOutstanding communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skillsAbility to balance vision-setting and storytelling with delivery and executionDeep understanding of the needs of the business and the customer, and translating them into innovative solutionsExperience with user research methodologies and usability testingFamiliarity with the evolving competitive landscape of digital identity, and where CLEAR is uniquely positioned to drive value for travelersStrong portfolio showcasing a range of outcome-oriented design projectsProficiency in current design tools including Figma, Principle, Lottie, and Abstract

The base salary range for this role is $180,000 - $250,000, depending on levels of skills and experience.
The base salary range represents the low and high end of CLEAR's salary range for this position. Salaries will vary depending on various factors which include, but are not limited to location, education, skills, experience and performance. The range listed is just one component of CLEAR's total compensation package for employees and other rewards may include annual bonuses, commission, Restricted Stock Units
