SUMMARY & MISSION STATEMENT:

Midwest Food Bank (MFB) is a $450M non-profit organization with 10 divisions in the U.S. and 2 operations internationally. MFB operates with $70M in assets and an annual organizational operating budget of $17M to distribute over $450M in food and disaster relief boxes to 2,200 agencies.

JOB ROLE PURPOSE & SUMMARY:

The Volunteer Coordinator oversees and facilitates the overall coordination of the division's volunteers. This includes all aspects of volunteer recruitment, scheduling, placement, group leadership, and engagement. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for leading volunteers to accomplish the duties of the role and to support the division's operations .

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Serve as point of contact for all MFB volunteers and volunteer activities. Able to speak to our mission, advocate for the hungry, and willing to invite people to make financial donations. Reports to the Executive Director. FT Exempt Position.Recruit, schedule, organize, train, and develop all volunteers based on their skill set.Serve as the point person to ensure that an environment is created where everyone is welcomed, valued, and invited to provide food to individuals experiencing food insecurity. Facilitate conflict resolution with our key volunteers.Ensure volunteers are scheduled to support the essential tasks.Manage the Golden Software program to ensure that accurate volunteer records are received for data input and volunteer opportunities are made available via our website.Develop and administer volunteer policies and procedures.Act as liaison with corporations and organizations from our community who wish to engage volunteer groups. Represent MFB at community volunteer fairs and events.Communicate effectively and work as a teammate with operations staff in determining and prioritizing volunteer activities.Train and delegate to key volunteer leaders weekly volunteer project management.Plan and coordinate annual volunteer appreciation event.Able to lift 50 lbs., climb stairs, and travel where needed across the state or to Illinois up to one day per month.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

2-years relevant work experience, 5-years desired.Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Human Services, or related field.Demonstrated ability creating a team-oriented environment and achieving results through others; experience leading volunteers desired.Experience using interpersonal skills to influence a community and maintain a strong brand image.Proven initiative, problem-solving, organization, and time management skills.Superior professional communications, verbal, written, and customer service skills.Ability to use technology or learn computer skills, such as Office 365 and Golden.Willingness to participate in training that may include development of professional skills, education on MFB's policies and procedures, and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer in an office setting; periods of movement in a warehouse setting.Minimal in-state and out-of-state travel as needed; infrequent evening and weekend obligations.Pay : $44,500 - 55,600 per year
