Scion Nonprofit has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Legislative Advocate for our client, a wonderful Nonprofit organization that serves the California educational community! Based in Sacramento, the Legislative Advocate will utilize their expertise in school funding, LCFF, and Prop 98; remaining reformed in both proposed/current and state/federal legislation issues, policies, statues and regulations; and researches, analyzes, and evaluates ways to advocate for the organization’s positions. This is a full time, direct hire role; hybrid in Sacramento.Perks:Opportunity to be part of an established Nonprofit leader that has focused on advancing the well being and education of millions of California studentsGreat work culture and an experienced and passionate government relations team!Compensation range is $120-155k, depending on experience, plus benefitsWhat you will be doing:Research, analysis, and impact evaluation of current and proposed federal and state legislative and budget issues including statues, regulations and policies; developing recommendations, presentations, and proposals on advice and strategic planning for implementationEnsures Congress, legislators, and legislative committees understand Organization positions on proposed legislationManages design and implementation of Organization legislative strategyContributes to the development and communication of Organization’s positions on issues, policies, and billsLobbies federal and state agencies regarding Organization's positions, including US Department of Education and State Department of EducationAdvocate and represent Organization on state and national boards, advisory groups and committees; using interpersonal communication skills and collaborative relationships to support Organization’s missionWhat you will need:In depth expertise in K-12 school public education funding policy in California, including Prop 98 and LCFF3+ years of experience in a legislative research, analysis, evaluation, or related governmental relations/advocacy experienceDemonstrated experience in representing/advocating for policy/position via multiple areas of communication, including writing reports and presentations; lobbying, attending meetings and public speaking; attending and testifying at hearings; etcExperience utilizing interpersonal communication skills to create, maintain, and utilize professional working relationshipsInterested?Contact Scion Nonprofit today for more information by submitting your resume directly through this posting.
