OverviewThe Assistant Sales Manager strategically maximizes performance of their perishable department by assisting with creating and executing sales plans and pricing programs which support company business plans and initiatives. The Assistant Sales Manager assists the Sales Manager to assess the department’s business and provides insights of sales, pricing, promotions, and other growth opportunities. Works with existing vendor base to negotiate terms and develop new incentive programs. Identifies measurable key performance indicators (KPIs) and creates forecast assumptions for various customer segments and sellers.

Minimum QualificationsMinimum 1-3 years Category Management experience; Perishable experience preferred.

Must be ServSafe certified.

Must be proficient in Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

Ability to work a flexible schedule in accordance with the needs of the company.

Must understand budgets, gross profit, sales, shrink, and bottom-line goals.

Ability to maintain a high degree of ethics, integrity, and confidentiality.

Ability to work with people of various backgrounds, personality traits and levels of authority to accomplish department and company goals.

ResponsibilitiesElevate customer experience by keeping department current with latest food trends and techniques.

Work with Sales Manager to ensure department is compliant with merchandising programs and sales plans, customer service, ordering practices, shrink and sanitation.

Spend time in the field to assess planograms, remerchandise department, collect data, test displays, and take photos of department to make informed decisions.

Utilize all company data management tools to have processes and decisions driven by data.

Communicate department goals and policies clearly, maintaining open communication channels for ideas, suggestions, and feedback.

Provide the Sales Manager with and feedback received from store teams regarding the department.

Provide ongoing assistance to Sales Manager with product and supply ordering, equipment setup, department organization and vendor assistance including new store openings and department remodeling.

Identify training opportunities and consider new or established methods to improve display techniques, efficient ordering, scheduling, and work planning.

Assist with the creation of weekly sales plans and communicate effectively to store management teams.

Ensure that department operations are consistent with all aspects of federal, state and company health, safety, and sanitation codes.

Assist with evaluating yields and case configurations to make profitable decisions for the department.

Assist with developing, negotiating, and implementing advertising and merchandising programs to achieve sales & profit targets.

Assist with evaluating, negotiating, and implementing new product introductions and management of selections of items to discontinue.

Join Sales Manager as needed to represent the Company at trade shows and functions; facilitate vendor business reviews; be the "face" of Roche Bros. in our market and trade circles; maintain complete knowledge of competitive marketplace.

Utilize consumer insights/trends to assist with development of department plans, including strategies and tactics to deliver projected sales and margin.

Support Sales Manager in communicating concise direction to successfully implement sales initiatives; resolve issues expediently.

Support dynamic promotional plans to meet company sales goals.
