If this sounds like the choice you want to make, then choose MITRE—and make a difference with us.The MITRE Space Intelligence Systems Department is looking for a Lead Network Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) who wants to drive innovative solutions, thought leadership, and evidence-based recommendations so the Intelligence Community (IC) can deliver the benefits and services our Mission Partners depend on to make a positive impact in the world.Roles & Responsibilities:Development of Program and Technical Strategy and Execution for the following:Applying network engineering skills in support of the National Space Portfolio (NSP) Sponsor's mission.Working with experts in space and integrated ground domains with the opportunity to apply end-to-end terrestrial and MPLS/IP network expertise across a broad spectrum of technical disciplines / capabilities to bring the most current technologies to bear against sponsor's toughest challenges.Also work with service providers to design, provision and maintain sponsor long haul communication networks - domestic and international, as well as, the MPLS/IP WAN/CAN/LAN networks.Development of technical engineering reports geared for both technical and non-technical audiences / decision makers.FT/On-site required.Basic Qualifications:Top Secret/SCI clearance and possess or be willing to obtain a polygraph.Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Strong understanding of end-to-end terrestrial and MPLS/IP network expertise across a broad spectrum of technical disciplines.Experience with MPLS/IP WAN/CAN/LAN networks.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.This position requires an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.Preferred Qualifications:TS/SCI with poly.Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a technical equivalent or, Degree in Engineering with emphasis on Networking, or related technical field such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, computer science, or related STEM program.Knowledge and experience with IP/MPLS networking as well as with fiber optical transport to include under sea cabling.A working understanding of space systems and how they interact with ground systems.Prior professional experience in the US Intelligence, Space, or Defense Community.This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):Top Secret/SCIThis requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):Top Secret/SCI/PolygraphWork Location Type:Onsite
