We are seeking a
cleared or clearable mid-senior level Sr. Software Engineer
who is self-motivated and energetic with a background in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
Responsibilities:
This position involves developing solutions to national security threats and products in the portfolio include:
Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical (EO) sensors
Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
Extract, Transform Load (ETL) processing
Data lake storage and query
Data modeling and analysis
The position requires solid software development skills. General knowledge of software development environments, virtualization paradigms, and software configuration management tools are all required for full performance. Knowledge of DevOps, digital testing, data interfaces, network security, access controls (authentication & authorization), software modularity and refactoring, and/or Systems Engineering and Cloud Architecture are each desirable. The target development and deployment environment is Amazon Web Services (AWS) so cloud certifications are also desirable, but not required.
Essential Functions:
Good understanding of one or more of the following software languages, including coding best practices, with a detailed understanding of the following software concepts: inheritance, generics, and interfaces.

Although many different options are appropriate if they can be connected to one of the core languages above, a basic understanding of source and artifact configuration management, build systems, and/or packaging managers is required.

-OR- AWS Cloud Practitioner or higher certifications
This position can be filled at the Principal Engineer or Sr. Principal Engineer level.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Software Engineer Level:
B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 5 years of relevant work experience OR M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 3 years of relevant work experience OR Ph.D and 0 years of relevant work experience. NOTE: 4 years of relevant work experience can be substituted for the degree.
Demonstrated software programming experience
Basic understanding of source and artifact configuration management, build systems, and/or packaging managers
Basic understanding of usage for virtualization paradigms
Knowledge and experience of one or more of the following:
DevOps (especially in AWS) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (i.e. Terraform by HashiCorp)
Systems testing using virtual machine technology or elastic cloud computing (AWS EC2)
Data interfaces (APIs, REST, markup languages, schemas, and metadata)

B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 8 years of relevant work experience OR M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 6 years of relevant work experience OR Ph.D and 4 years of relevant work experience. NOTE: 4 years of relevant work experience can be substituted for the degree.

This position offers the option of a 9/80 work schedule. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Salary Range:
$107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2:
$133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
