Summary:

The Project Revenue & Cost Accounting Manager will oversee the financial operations related to revenue recognition and cost accounting within the organization. This role will be responsible for managing revenue recognition processes, analyzing cost structures and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Job Details:

Manage all aspects of project accounting, including project set-up, purchase orders (including set up and change management), cost management, inventory movement and customer invoicingOversee and ensure accurate and timely coding and tracking of costs, procurement and sourcing of materials for energy storage projectsAnalyze project costs incurred to date against expected costs, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or deviations and providing recommendations for optimizing project financial performanceManage revenue recognition for assigned projects in accordance with US GAAP, including revenue forecasts and the measurement of revenue performanceMonitor and analyze project margins, identifying and tracking margin deterioration and providing insights and recommendations to improve project profitabilityOwn and manage the end account analysis and reconciliations for all managed accounts, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting. Such accounts include Contract Assets, Deferred Revenue, Inventory, GRNI, Deferred Costs and Impairments, Bond Collateral Deposits, Customer Deposits, Revenue, Cost of Goods Sold, Sales Commissions, Significant Financing - Interest Expense, Warranty Accrual etc.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, etc. to ensure effective communication and coordination of project financial activitiesWork closely with external auditors, preparing and providing necessary documentation and support to ensure a smooth and timely audit processAssist the Director of Revenue & Cost Accounting in providing strategic financial inputs, analysis and support for executive decision-makingMentor and guide members of the accounting and finance team to ensure high levels of efficiency and expertise in project revenue and cost accounting practicesManage key deliverables:Revenue & Cost WorkbooksAccount Reconciliations for project related accountsProject Specific Summary & AnalysisRelevant Month and Quarter End Financial CommentaryQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; advanced degree (MBA, MAcc) requiredCPA certification is preferred5+ years of relevant accounting and financial management experience, preferably in the energy or energy storage industryStrong understanding of US GAAP, with an emphasis on project accounting and revenue recognitionProven experience in project financial management, including cost and revenue tracking, margin analysis, and inventory managementAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with NetSuite ERP system a plusDetail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectivelyStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsSelf-driven and self-sufficient in identifying and resolving complex issues as they ariseExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex accounting concepts to non-accounting colleagues
