Company & Role:This is an opportunity to join an energy-focused investment firm that specializes in trading strategies within power and energy markets. The company uses fundamental analysis and a discretionary approach to manage portfolios, focusing on themes tied to the global energy transition, particularly toward a low-carbon economy.Key Responsibilities:Develop an understanding of congestion pricing, grid topology and power factors that contribute to real-time price formation (weather, dispatch, load, fuel, outages, transmission, etc.).Develop models and dashboards to help understand, forecast, and visualize power supply/demand balances.Work closely with other power and gas analysts and traders in market view development.Provide ad hoc analyses for the trading desk and provide timely and tradable analyses.Provide daily reports and participate in weekly meetings.Data mining and analysis to identify commercial trading and optimization opportunities.Requirements:Knowledge of North American ISO/RTO power markets.Experience with Optimal Power Flow (OPF) models or nodal market simulation tools (such as PowerWorld, PROMOD, UPLAN, GridView, GE MAPS, DAYZER, PLEXOS, Aurora etc.).Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, or other quantitative discipline.Proficiency in Python (beneficial).Analytics background, knowledge in simulation, optimization, statistics, options pricing theory.This role is based in downtown Houston and they work on a hybrid model. Compensation offered is in the region of $150,000-$200,000 with additional bonus compensation dependent on company performance.If interested, please apply.
