What You'll Do:

We’re looking for an Associate to join our Fund Administrative, Tax & Oversight team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for performing financial reporting related activities for a group of assigned mutual funds including: semi-annual/annual financial statement preparation, reporting related to regulatory requirements, and oversight of reporting prepared by third-party service provider. In addition, incumbent will be responsible for calculating SEC Yields for assigned group of funds on a monthly basis and performing reporting-related activities associated with specialty items. Incumbent will be responsible for ensuring all activities performed are completed in compliance with established regulatory and internal control procedures and guidelines.

Financial Statement Prep and Regulatory Requirements:

Prepare financial statements (including balance sheet, income statement, statement of changes, statement of cash flows, schedules of investments, notes to financials) for platforms in accordance with US GAAP and Regulation S-X, as applicable, for a group of assigned funds, on a semi-annual/annual basis. Ensure data accuracy by reconciling between financial reporting and fund accounting applications. Review reports for reasonableness, document and research discrepancies. During annual audits, prepare audit workpapers and assist with ad-hoc inquiries from external auditor. Ensure that reports are completed within established deadlines.

Reporting Requirements:

On a monthly basis, calculate and analyze SEC Yields for assigned funds, prepare data required for various regulatory reporting, provide internal/external business partners with data as-needed.

Oversight of 3rd party service provider:

Review reports provided by third-party service provider to ensure that output ties to source files. Review for accuracy/completeness and escalate exceptions as needed to appropriate leadership.

Data Stewardship:

Ensure that datasets for specific area of focus are complete and accurate. Activities include ensuring that the financial reporting application is updated for changes within the mutual funds, researching new investment types and recommending disclosure updates to leadership.

Team initiatives:

Identify opportunities and solutions to improve workflow, procedures and processes with a focus on increasing efficiency and accuracy and eliminating pain points; present ideas to the team and if supported, communicate (verbally and via written documentation) changes. Take initiative to research new situations that arise and communicate findings/learnings with the team; develop documentation as appropriate. Actively contribute to assigned projects (e.g. system and process enhancement). Articulate business requirements and impacts of decisions to project team; provide project status updates to the broader team.

Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.

Who You Are:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent required, plus 2+ years relevant work experience

Strong preference towards candidates with a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with previous experience in investment-related reporting

Knowledge of the investment markets, securities and related accounting principles and industry legal and regulatory requirements preferred

Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, time management, decision making, interpersonal and communication skills is required

Must be detail oriented, able to maintain a high degree of accuracy, work independently, meet established deadlines, handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

Must be a self-starter and have good customer service skills

Must have demonstrated the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships and effectively communicate with internal and external contacts

Proficiency with Word and Excel required

Ability to learn systems and applications used within the firm required; proficiency with systems and applications strongly preferred (FIS, Confluence Unity, Bloomberg)

This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check.

Salary Range Information:

Salary Range: $71250 - $95950 / year

Work Environments:

This role offers an in-office and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangement in Des Moines, IA.
