This position is responsible for bringing software engineering expertise to assist in accelerating and improving systems engineering and modeling and simulation capabilities at NASA Headquarters and other NASA centers. An enthusiasm for space science and exploration is preferred.The core responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Design and development of custom tools to support customer needs including back-end analytical processing and front-end GUI developmentDatabase development and maintenanceDocumenting architecture and designThe selected candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of development projects—with significant input into the choice of technologies used for said projects—and will both collaborate with other software developers as well as support engineers with modeling, and analysis software.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fieldYears of Experience: 5+ years of experience in a relevant professional fieldWork Authorization: Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.Role / Work ScheduleThis is a full-time, on-site position at our Greenbelt, MD office.Preferred SkillsSelf-starter and creative problem solver with the ability to meet strict deadlinesAble to quickly and independently learn new programming languages, libraries, and frameworksFamiliar with full-stack web developmentReact, Typescript and Node experience a plusFamiliar with code optimization techniques, including parallelizationConfident with Git for collaborative version controlStrong organizational skills and attention to details
