Job Title:Senior Inverter Engineer, IR&D
Pay Grade:T4
Job Description:The Senior Inverter Engineer, IR&D is responsible for R&D ideation, technical assessment of companies and technologies, quantification/qualification of perceived value/risk of new technologies, and execution of proof-of-concept projects with third parties related to inverter technology. This position will be working closely with stakeholders within various functional areas, including support of production programs across multiple product lines and in technology, Business and Corporate Development initiatives. To be successful, the Senior Inverter Engineer, IR&D must have the ability to effectively collaborate cross-functionally to execute project/program plans and clearly communicate value quantification and technology learnings in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and research a broad range of next generation technologies and trends related to inverters
Influence the organization’s technology roadmap related to power electronics as a part of Steering Committee
Define and execute work packages as part of collaborative projects with 3rd parties related to inverter technology (paper studies, simulation/analysis, physical hardware development and test, and motor controls)
Seek and recommend ‘out-bound’ pursuits for gap closure in achieving Allison’s Technology Roadmap and Business Plan related to power electronics technology
Review ‘in-bound’ partnership and technology opportunities for relevance / applicability
Participate in industry seminars, tradeshows, and other events related to power electronics technology
Communicate results and learnings across the organization, including in-depth discussions with the Product Engineering team
Support technical reviews for ongoing, production inverter programs
Key Performance Measures:
Maintain the pulse of power electronics technology
Ideation and influence on technology roadmap
PoC execution
Communication of learnings
Support of production and Business Development teams
Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science in Engineering Required, Masters of Engineering Preferred
Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment
Experience:
7+ years experience in engineering and engineering R&D related to inverter technology
7+ years relevant automotive or commercial vehicle industry experience (preferred)
Knowledge in inverter and propulsion technology
Knowledge of relevant analysis and simulation tools
Experience finding and creating solutions independently with limited information to deliver a positive outcome
Experience collaborating and working cross functionally on strategic company initiatives
