About the Position:

The work involves a variety of interior design project types and sizes related to the hospitality industry and includes both new construction and renovations. The Junior Interior Designers will work under the supervision of the HPI Directors and more senior Interior Designers to produce quality designs and drawings, as well as requisition designs items.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Work on multiple projects simultaneously, including assisting more senior Interior Designers as directed.

Adhere to design schedules and ensure deadlines are met.

Develop design concepts to be presented to the HPI Vice President of Design.

Assist more senior Interior Designers with compiling budgets.

Review drawings and details for design intent and constructability under the supervision of the HPID Directors or more senior Interior Designers.

Review drawings and details for coordination with all consultants including architects, engineers, landscape architects, lighting & AV consultants, millwork fabricators, etc.

Review and approve shop drawings and submittals under the supervision of senior Interior Designers.

Write/review FF&E and material Design Requisitions.

Liaise with HPI's Purchasing department and review project material trackers.

Liaise with on-site Project Managers to promptly resolve construction/installation issues.

Travel to job sites to assist in project installations and property inspection reports.

Qualifications and Experience:

Degree in Interior Design is preferred.

Two (2) years of experience in interior design.

Specific Knowledge and Skills Required:

Must be proficient with the entire Microsoft Office suite of products and AutoCAD.

Working knowledge of drawings and specifications, budgets, construction techniques and building systems.

Must be self-motivated.

Must have solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

Must have solid time management and prioritization skills.

Must have sound analytical skills.

Must have solid customer service and problem-solving skills.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing (in English).

Ability to communicate effectively with management, co-workers and external parties.

Ability to adapt to a changing environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Standard office hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm or 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Moving furniture, etc., when on project installations. Job sites can include hardhat construction conditions.

Travel to the Caribbean is required to assist senior team members in resort inspections and project installations. Frequency of travel as required by Sandals Resorts International (SRI) and HPID Directors and may include weekends and holidays. A valid passport is required to travel to the Caribbean.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
