UC San Diego Health has held its Magnet status since 2011.The RN will assist with IV administration, monitor high-risk inpatients and outpatients, and conduct stress testing as part of a collaborative team supporting other members, including cardiac sonographers and the EKG technician. This role must demonstrate knowledge of basic cardiac rhythms, sterile techniques, and infection control guidelines, ensuring these principles are consistently applied in all aspects of patient care. By monitoring high-risk inpatients who come down for testing, the RN helps ensure that cardiac sonographers can perform their exams and facilitate high-quality imaging.Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.RN License issued by the State of California.BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within 6 months of hire date.Must have a minimum of 1 year of active nursing experience.Knowledge of sterile technique and infection control guidelines.Skill in insertion of peripheral IVs.Knowledge of basic cardiac rhythms.Ability to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing.Excellent interpersonal skills, using tact and diplomacy in order to interact effectively with all levels of professional staff and a diversity of patients.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

BSN.Experience with cardiac testing and care.Skill in appropriate telephone techniques.Knowledge of and training with Left Ventricular Assist Devices.SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.Selected candidate may be hired at the CN III/ CNIV level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.Pay Transparency ActAnnual Full Pay Range: $123,902 - $173,659 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)Hourly Equivalent: $59.34 - $83.17Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
