Regional Director-Surety Claims
to join its
Claims Team.
Employees living in the Southeast Wisconsin area will work a flexible, hybrid schedule in our Home Office in Brookfield, WI. Employees outside of Southeast Wisconsin will work remote or in an existing Branch office if available and preferred.
Under the direction of the Senior Vice President – Claims, the Regional Director – Claims plays an integral role in the collaboration and design of policies and procedures within the Claims department to achieve quality claim handling results and ensure compliance with Company procedures and state regulations. The Regional Director – Claims also handles assigned claims and provides leadership and technical guidance to assigned staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise direct reports, make recommendations for performance management and disciplinary action. Train subordinates to achieve goals. In addition, contribute to the new employee selection process.
Execute resolution of assigned claims by achieving equitable claim service on a timely basis, setting and maintaining appropriate reserves, and pursuing salvage and/or taking any steps necessary to minimize losses or preserve assets for recovery.
Negotiate and settle claims with a higher complexity level within authority limits. Control allocated Loss Adjustment Expenses.
Answer questions regarding bond forms, contracts, and defenses. Discuss claim strategy, litigation strategy, and coach staff to achieve favorable claim outcomes.
Assist Vice President – Claims in developing and executing Department and Company-wide initiatives, and with the annual audit process. Keep Vice President – Claims apprised of claim trends or unique issues.
Work with internal and external auditors to explain policies, procedures, and controls. Assist Vice President – Claims with developing additional policies or procedures, as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:This position requires a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of five years of Surety claims experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working as a Regional Director-Claims requires one to work independently and effectively within a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products is necessary. Other skills necessary include excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and accurate proofreading skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, the ability to exercise discretion with confidential information, strong attention to detail, and the ability to use a variety of office equipment.
This position requires one to continuously have a valid driver's license and a motor vehicle operator's record that is considered satisfactory as defined by company and/or corporate procedures.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:This position requires one to sit for extended periods of time and stand and/or walk occasionally. The position requires one to occasionally push, pull, carry, and/or lift up to 10 pounds. No personal protective equipment is required. Ergonomic equipment is available to employees.
