Conferred Transcripts with a Graduation Date : Current M-DCPS employees do not need to submit official transcripts if highest degree earned is on file in the Office of Personnel Records (305-995-7258). For external candidates, official transcripts will be required if you are recommended for the position. Your degree must be from an accredited university. If the position does not require a college degree, you are required to have at least a high school diploma. Candidates with academic training and degrees granted outside the U.S. must submit a credential evaluation report that includes a statement of degree equivalency from an accredited agency in the U.S.

Occupational SummaryResponsible for providing technical support for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) Wide Area Network (WAN) as well as specific administrative Local Area Networks (LANs). Provides technical input as to the selection and implementation of appropriate network technology as it applies to the district technology objectives. Implements and administers network technology objectives. Implements and administers network technology solutions are required. Acts as a liaison to district staff on information system issues.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIESAdministers and supports WAN technology (routers, switches, etc.) as appropriate.Supports specific administrative Windows and file and print servers.Develops and implements appropriate security and data recovery procedures for specific administrative networks. Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.Supports network to mainframe computer connectivity devices such as SNA servers and Cisco Channel Interface Processor (CIP).Administers and supports district Internet Content Filtering technology including Windows Proxy Servers.Provides support for MS Exchange Group Ware server and client applications.Manages site-based LAN installation projects.Supports schools and administrative offices in the design and installation of LAN’s.Install, upgrade, and configure network printing, directory structures, user access, security, software and file services.Performs other duties related to the administrative responsibilities of the position.Physical RequirementsThis work requires the following physical activities: sitting, mobility, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors.

Minimum Qualification RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Management, Business or Computer Science preferred.At least five (5) years of experience with increasing responsibility in the management of Local Area Networks (LAN) and/or experience with Wide Area Network (WAN) connections. This should include practical hands-on experience with Novell NetWare, Microsoft Server, MS Exchange/Outlook, MS Proxy Server, MS Internet Information Server as well as File Server devices and router and switch devices.Experience with the implementation of network security.Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification, or courses toward this certification.Practical knowledge of the components and installation of LAN technology preferred.Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.Miami-Dade County Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer!
