Be a part of our mission to provide our customers with best-in-class cargo and vehicle screening systems and services so they can combat terrorism, trade fraud, drug and weapon smuggling, and illegal immigration.The Senior Cost Accountant will be a trusted business partner for the Operations and Senior Management Teams. The Senior Cost Accountant will plan, analyze and communicate key financial information through detailed reports and analysis of production costs related to three manufacturing facilities and all product families. Coordinate and oversee the Company's cycle and physical counts and analyze inventory for excess and obsolete reserves. As part of the finance team, you will build the foundation of operations and financial analysis for our manufacturing centers across the US.Responsibilities
Plan, collect and analyze data to determine costs of product production such as raw material costs, labor and overheadAnalyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing processes to determine impact on the cost of productsAnalyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports and related analysis which compares standard costs to actual production costsAssist in estimating cost of new and proposed productsProvide management with reports comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products inclusive of current inflation trendsPartnering with the operations teams to ensure proper inventory management, annual physical inventory validations and daily cycle counts are performed in accordance with policyEstablish overhead rates for inventory and labor and update as appropriateParticipates in the monthly financial close including inventory account reconciliation and analysis, gross margin analysis and various other reconciliations as assignedPrepare and lead presentation of inventory balances and key drivers to Senior ManagementSupports Controller and operations managers with cost analysis, process modifications and system related troubleshootingUphold the company's core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and TeamworkDemonstrate behavior consistent with the company's Code of Ethics and ConductIt is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problemDuties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience3 + years in related cost accountingStrong proficiency with office productivity applications (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word)Experience with integrated ERP software, Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferredMust be able to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneouslySuperior organizational skills and attention to detailsWork requires effective oral and written communications skillsStrong analytical skillsOther Work Requirements
