Recruitment Number 24-0469 - Shiftwork - Hawaii State Hospital, Kaneohe, Oahu.This recruitment is being conducted to fill vacancies with the Department of Health, Hawaii State Hospital located in Kaneohe, Oahu.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The Hawaii State Hospital is the only acute care hospital in Hawaii dedicated solely to serving adults with serious mental illness. The hospital provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to individuals suffering from brain, medical and behavioral disorders who are primarily court ordered. Many of the patients frequently exhibit extreme hostility (which may include violent behavior to others or themselves), may be confused, combative or are resistant to services. Work may involve dealing with violent outbursts, physical or verbal threats and assaults, and physically restraining patients.The Psychiatric Technician at the Entry Level are provided specific and detailed instructions; close guidance in performing tasks; and receive close and frequent review of work performed. The Psychiatric Technician Full Performance Level is the fully independent worker level in the series. He/she is expected to possess demonstrated proficiency in providing the full range of services to clientele of the work site.
NOTE: Applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays, and work under conditions as described above.

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.Psychiatric Technician Entry Level Experience Requirement:
One year of work experience
in a hospital or other medically oriented institution
or program where the primary or basic objective was to observe and report on a variety of physical and/or mental symptoms and conditions and implement care and/or treatment procedures for a caseload of patients.Psychiatric Technician Full Performance Level Experience Requirements:
One year of work experience
in a hospital or other medically oriented institution
or program where the primary or basic objective was to observe and report on a variety of physical and/or mental symptoms and conditions and implement care and/or treatment procedures for a caseload of patients.ANDOne year of work experience
in a mental health facility/unit
which involved learning and performing selected therapeutic activities under the supervision of a qualified professional.Substitution Allowed:
